Karl's Bio

I'm an English professor at a university in Baltimore. Basketball is one of my passions, both playing it and watching it. I played ball in highschool, but being a 6'3" power forward in D-I college wasn't an option, so I opted for academics, and played hardcore intermurals at Notre Dame, UCONN, and Delaware. I started to get some of the typical injuries in my 30s--torn achilles tendon, ACL and miniscus tears--but I still play at my gym, with a big old terminator-looking brace on my knee. I suppose I'll quit when I can't walk anymore. It's still fun when I can get on a team of guys who know how to pass, rebound, and play D.

  2. How's it going, Karl?

With the Dodgers struggling to the finish line, I composed a little prayer that Dodger fans can offer up:

  5. Hi Karl, how are you?

I almost had to make a decision between watching U. S. Open tennis finals and opening week NFL matchups. Rain delays in New York City solved the dilemma; but which one would I have chosen?

I had decided in my heart that the USO would win out. Read on to find out why:
