I'm an English professor at a university in Baltimore. Basketball is one of my passions, both playing it and watching it. I played ball in highschool, but being a 6'3" power forward in D-I college wasn't an option, so I opted for academics, and played hardcore intermurals at Notre Dame, UCONN, and Delaware. I started to get some of the typical injuries in my 30s--torn achilles tendon, ACL and miniscus tears--but I still play at my gym, with a big old terminator-looking brace on my knee. I suppose I'll quit when I can't walk anymore. It's still fun when I can get on a team of guys who know how to pass, rebound, and play D.
I'm glad Alabama won, but I think they were out-coached. They weren't ready for what Auburn threw at them in the first quarter, and they weren't...

Kaman should be on the ballot. I can't believe this won't be righted by the NBA before too long--after all, a lot people are voting on-line...

Ticket prices are cheaper for Clipper games. There are no seasons or geographical divisions in LA...
Pretty funny, Jose. Imagine, with one free agent move, all the bad karma of the L.A. Clippers (and there's more bad karma there than there is...

Haha! I love your comments Karl. Always direct, funny and correct! Should LA lure 'Bron it...
John, you've got the right idea. The MVP is not the player who wins the most games, or the player with the highest statistical production; it's...
John Lorge replied…
Great stuff Karl. Win shares haven't been a perfect indicator of who will win the MVP...
Karl replied…
True, John--Win Shares probably lines up with MVP more than any other single stat, but there...
Thanks to BR, I recently interviewed Knicks legend Earl Monroe. Here is what he had to say on a variety of topics, including the current state of the Knicks!
