Timothy's Bio

That's me on the right wearing my ultimate rally cap, my beloved Cubbies needed it that day. There's really only two things you need to know about me: First, I love, love stats! I'm a stats junky! Especially when it comes to baseball stats. Second, baseball is the end all be all of sports for me, especially Cubs baseball.

I follow all the major sports, none as much as I follow baseball, but nevertheless I can hold my own in just about all of them. The list goes: baseball, college football, tennis, billards, pro football, basketball, chess (yes I said chess), NASCAR, hockey, and anything else you could possibly come up with.

I've played every sport at least once, this does not include ice hockey, but I've played roller hockey, so I know how difficult each sport is. That's why I have nothing but respect for most of the athletes that play these sports.

I look forward to writing about my favorite teams and sports, but mostly your comments.

The Short List facts and information about Timothy Davis

Favorite Athletes

I'll keep this list to the ones that are still alive, because if I include players from the past, this would be a long, long list: Nomar Garciaparra, Derek Jeter, Steve Nash, Scott Podsednik, Ichiro, Anyone on the Cubs or Yankees, Joe Montana, Randy Moss, Barry Sanders, Jake Delhomme, Mark McGwire, Andre Dawson, Matt Kemp, Sindey Crosby, Roger Federer, LeBron James, Allen Iverson, B.J. Upton, Luke Scott, Paul Bako (I don't understand it either), Henry Blanco (same thing), Troy Glaus, Jose Reyes, Ivan Rodriguez, the list goes on and on and on...

Favorite Sports Teams

Chicago Cubs, New York Yankees, Georgia Bulldogs, Roger Federer, Colorado Avalanche (just don't ask me any questions about hockey though), Kansas City Chiefs, New Orleans Saints, Phoenix Suns, Greg Biffle, and Dale Earnhardt Jr.

All Time Sports Moment

There are so many, but I'll scribble down a few: Feb. 1st, 2004 Carolina vs. New England, when all hope looked lost Jake "The Man with the Plan" Delhomme comes out in the second half firing like a man possessed, probably the greatest Super Bowl I've ever seen. Aramis Ramirez comes to the plate on June 29th, 2007 against Francisco Cordero, who, at the time, was arguably the best closer in the National League, and he belts a 3 run home run with 2 outs in the bottom of the 9th, completely turns around the Cubs' and Milwaukee's whole seasons. October 25th 2005 in Houston the longest game in World Series history an unlikely hero steps up to the plate, the only time he would step up to the plate, and hits the game winning home run in the World Series, that hero was Geoff Blum; I'll keep this one short and sweet, Mark McGwire's 62nd home run. There are many more that I've seen highlights of, but never saw live (which includes watching it live on TV). Some examples include, but are not limited to: Curt Gibson's home run, Carlton Fisk's home run, Billy Buckner's ground ball, and Joe Montana's whole career.

Most Memorable Game Attended

2005 World Series, see story above.

Most Unbreakable Sports Record

All of my unbreakable records are in baseball, I know it's a shocker: Chief Wilson's triples record for a single season (36) will almost never be touched by anyone. The closest anyone has ever come to this record was Curtis Granderson in 2007 with 27, but before him was Lance Johnson (who?) in 1996 with 21. The second record is probably the one record which will never be touched by anyone in baseball, few have come close, but all have failed; Joe DiMaggio's single season hit streak. Nobody, and I mean nobody, will break this streak; with the media breathing down their necks, fans being more vocal nowadays, pitchers throwing the nastiest things at them (knucklecurves), and just the pressure of trying to beat a legends record will without a doubt take its toll on someone. There are a couple in baseball that have the ability, but are mentally lacking the strength. Hack Wilson's single season RBI total of 191. The most recent players to come close to this record are: Manny Ramirez 165 (1999), Sammy Sosa 160 (2001), Sammy Sosa 158 (1998) and Alex Rodriguez 156 (2007). Cy Young's 511 wins. Closest living person is Roger Clemens with 354 and then Greg Maddux with 347. Hell there's only one other person who is even in the 400 club and that's Walter Johnson.

Ruth or Mays?

This isn't even a difficult question to me: Babe Ruth is the greatest baseball player to EVER live! In 22 seasons at the plate, six of which were cut short because of his pitching in Boston and before his retirement, he hit 714 home runs! If you take away those six years he still hit 688 home runs, and I'm not even talking about his stats as a pitcher yet! He went 94-46 with a 2.28 ERA, but in the playoffs his record was 3-0 with a 0.87 ERA-INSANE!!!

Unitas or Montana?

Montana is, as of right now, the greatest quarterback to ever play the game. I'm not taking anything away from Unitas because what he did in his time, nobody else could, but Joe did two things that I consider him to be amazing for. First, the little known fact too, is when he was at Notre Dame he was playing in a game when it was -15 degrees out. He was having an awful game in the first half, but after half time with his team down by two touchdowns, he drove his team down the field three times for the win. Second, what other quarterback, in his time, could have driven their team down the field with the opposing team on their sideline celebrating because they basically have the biggest game of the year in the bag? NO ONE!!! He made the two minute drill what is today!!!

Pele or Maradona?

Neither!!! Soccer is only good during the World Cup. Who the hell is Maradona anyway?

Pac 10, Big 12, Big 10, SEC, ACC, or Big East?

SEC. Show me one team, in any other division, that could beat any team in the SEC! Georgia, LSU, Florida, South Carolina, Arkansas-these are the types of teams that win championships!!!
