Aaron Writes About

The Short List What Aaron thinks about sport's most pressing questions

  • Favorite Athletes

LeBron James, Roger Federer, Rudy Gay, David Ortiz, Peyton Manning

  • Favorite Sports Teams

    Boston Red Sox, UConn Basketball

  • Favorite Coaches

    Jim Calhoun

  • All Time Sports Moment

Boston Red Sox 2004 World Series Championship, UConn Basketball 1999 and 2004 National Championships

  • Most Memorable Game Attended

Syracuse vs. UConn: 2006 Big East Tournament. Gerry McNamara hit a 3-pointer to send the game into overtime, and Syracuse won. Although I'm a UConn fan, I've never been more exausted and emotionally drained at the end of a sporting event. ***** Author's note: Just realized I never updated this: 2009 Big East Tournament: UConn vs. Syracuse. All I can say is "6 Overtimes." I was more emotionally drained when this one finished than Dwight Gooden after taking a piss test

  • Most Unbreakable Sports Record

Everybody says DiMaggio's 56 game hitting streak. I'm no different

  • Ruth or Mays?

    Mays

  • Unitas or Montana?

Unitas only because Abe Simpson (Homer's father on the Simpsons) once said of him "Johnny Unitas, now there's a haircut you can set your watch to."

  • Jordan or Russell?

    LeBron

  • Gretzky or Orr?

    Gretzky

  • Pele or Maradona?

Maradona. "Hand of God," and crazy drug addiction. What's not to love

  • Federer or Sampras?

Like Federer's game more, met Sampras personally. Very nice, humble guy

  • Tiger or Nicklaus?

    Tiger I guess

  • Petty or Earnhardt?

I live in Connecticut, NASCAR has about as much relevance to me as synchronized swimming (no offense to you synchronized swimming fans out there)

  • Schumacher or Senna?

I don't know what this is in reference too, but I used to have a huge crush on a girl with the last name Schumacher, so I guess that wins

  • Pac 10, Big 12, Big 10, SEC, ACC, or Big East?

    Big East

  1. Rex Ryan challenged the Jet fans this week, for a big game. Did the fans accept the challenge? I think so!

  2. Even with Josh Hamilton faltering his story offers hope and inspiration. http://bleacherreport.com/articles/233012-josh-hamiltons-story-still-provides-hope-even-with-relapse-in-january

Can you provide your analysis on this college basketball article. Thanks! http://bleacherreport.com/articles/226743-lawrence-westbrook-will-be-the-man-that-will-lead-the-gophers

  4. Hey there!
Today, I go back in time ten years ago in which the All Star Game was celebrated at Fenway Park in Boston. Arguably the most emotional All Star Game of all time as we celebrated a legend in Ted Williams who would not be with us much longer. But throughout the game, Williams' farewell had truly inspired the AL to win this game. Take a look back as I run down this historic game

    Feedback is always appreciated

  9. Hi Aaron! Thanks for dropping by my BB. I didn't get to your site to finish reading the Fed article, but if I get some time later on today, I will do so.

Staring down the barrel of the NCAA isn't the best feeling in the world. However, I'm taking the position that 1) this is still just an allegation unless/until its proven; 2) since the impact on the future of the program is relatively minor, no need to gnash my teeth. Doctored transcripts and bogus SAT scores have been going on forever, whether people want to acknowledge the fact or not.

I'm going to write something about it on B/R pretty soon, probably over the weekend.

I also decided to distract myself by paying homage to my favorite team of all-time: the 1988 Dodgers. Take a look if you get a minute!

  11. Aaron, as a Zags fan, should I want Austin Daye to go to the NBA or come back for his junior year. I think that the Zags will slip next year because of the loss of Heytvelt and Pargo.

  12. Hi Aaron! How are you?

I’m finally back, after almost a week off. I returned with the second part of my “Forgotten Stories of Courage” series:

Please stop by and give this piece a look. Let me know what you think afterward! Thanks so much for reading!

  14. Thank you Aaron, hopefully the site's owner will be able to get it up and running again soon, for the mean while, I try to keep our name around on this website.
And having looked around your site a bit, I have to commend you on doing a great job. Great layout and great content.
If you have any oppotunities to work with you on your site, I'd love to get involved.
Keep up the good work either way, no hard feelings if not

  15. Aaron-
Sorry to bombard, but I think you'd also like this one. It's a quick read when you have time
