I completely disagree about Hunter. He has more red flags than he does "elite" characteristics. His height and speed are the only things he has going for him. His weight his a HUGE concern at only 196. He will get absolutely manhandled by press corners like Tillman and Tramon Williams. He doesn't run over the middle because he'll get crushed if he does. And if he adds the 20 lbs he needs to to have the elite size, the speed will go down. Another red flag is his knee. Obviously, recoveries from ACL injuries have come a long way, but if you're looking for a guy that is going to make an impact in his rookie season, this is not him. Sure, Hunter can take it deep. But if we're drafting a one-trick pony in the first round, I want nothing to do with it. At least Hopkins and those other two guys (who I would welcome both of them, though I still don't think either one is elite), offer some kind of versatility or multidimensional aspects to their game.

There are NO elite WRs in this draft. Sure, Hopkins doesn't blow you away with anything specific, but he possesses the best combination of attributes of any other prospects in the class other than Patterson.

I still don't understand how you take one game as an indicator of a guy's entire career. Te'o with Alabama and now Hopkins with SC. One game doesn't make or break anyone's career. Hopkins will make the most immediate impact of any receiver in this class, regardless of if its with the Vikings or not.

Hopkins doesn't offer much upside? He can go deep early and often, he's physical, big and is probably the most well-rounded receiver in the class with Allen injured. Sure he played in an offense with a lot of talent, but he was definitely the No.1 receiver and his stats reflect that. I think he's the ideal guy to match up across Jennings.

I've been saying all along that DeAndre Hopkins is my preference. Sure, he doesn't have 4.3 speed either, but he's the most complete receiver in the class IMO. A healthy Keenan Allen runs a 4.5, he clearly is not 100%.

Despite what I keep writing about Tyrann Mathieu, I really like the mock you posted on my Bulletin Board. A significant number of impact players who could make big contributions right away. I might take a chance on Michael Williams, whose stock might drop without a combine invite, in the fifth instead of Stonebrunner. Not known as a catcher, but I think his hands will surprise.

I'm on board with planning ahead for Gerhart, who I really doubt will stay with the Vikings. What do you think about trading him for a 4th round pick?

Hopkins is 6'1. Thats not elite height, but considering the skills he brings to the table, thats good enough for me.
