Hey Nick --
I love Amir Khan. He's a very talented, aggressive, and entertaining fighter. His loss really came as kind of a fluke. He got hit with a nice left and wasn't really 'beaten' throughout the fight. Hopefully, he'll learn from the lesson and show a little more care in the ring.
That said, I think he's absolutely crazy for fighting Barerra. Even at 34, Barerra is an all-time great and he has the machismo and pride of all Mexican fighters. He'll just be relentless. I just don't think Khan has the ring generalship to distance himself and the great defense it will take to keep Barerra off him. I think Khan is hoping that fighting as a lightweight will be a huge benefit to him. We'll see.
My humble opinion is that Amir Khan would have been better served taking on someone like Michael Katsidis of Australia. It would have been a huge fight in England and a much more beatable opponent than Barerra.
That said, if Khan pulls out a win it will propel him to a whole new Stratosphere.
Thanks for the note and take care...should be a good fight.
