Mike's Bio

My name is Mike Owens. I'm 21 and a resident of the great (or not) state of Iowa. I'm currently a communications/public relations major at Kirkwood Community College and looking to transfer to the University of Iowa to major in journalism.

I'm an avid sports fan, both watching and playing. I love to play basically everything, though my main favorites are basketball and disc golf. I'll watch a lot of sports, but it's usually narrowed down to football, basketball and baseball.

As for writing credentials, I did numerous articles for JustBBall.com and am now a current writer for SportsTwo.com since the two sites merged.

And as much as I love writing and doing freelance stuff, I'm really hoping to make this a career. I'd love to land a big-time job at some place like the AP, New York Times, ESPN, SI, basically anything that I can write sports for. I have high aspirations for myself and am hoping to be able to meet them one day, until then, I'll just take everything one day at a time and make the best of every situation.
