The Penalty Shootout Circus: A Solution?
02/05/2009
I am a Chelsea fan born in Newcastle on Tyne and living in New Zealand since 1966.I have supported Chelsea from the age of 8 and watched the relegations and promotions right through. My first hero was Bobby Tambling and I scored many goals visualising I was him.More recently I see Lampard as the complete package and a terrific role model for the next generation of players.I cannot be accused of jumping onto the bandwagon when they became Chelski.
Tennis is another sport which I immerse myself into, yet never played other than socially.Andre Agassi took my breathe away from early on in his career .He turned out to be a star winning 8 slams and an Olympic gold medal--the complete set of titles. His endurance and sportsmanship are legendary.
More recently Rafael Nadal has interested me and his tenacity is second to none. When he gets that serve fireing he will be devastatingly good.Mentally he has got it sorted which is a worry for Federer and others. My only worry is that his body will go the distance.
My profession is a boatbuilder by trade and I have been renovating houses in recent years as well.I sell holidays,we own a holiday home at Lake Tarawera which is the best holiday destination on the planet.Take a virtual holiday on our website www.holidaylaketarawera.co.nz We have owned the property for 4 years now and we have had guests from all over the world now.It has foosball, table tennis ,air hockey,Kayaks ,boat ,woodfired pizza oven, basketball ,the very best beds, sky tv 2x,LCD tv ,views to die for and a drive in depwater boatshed. We would love to help you plan you holidays and land a trophy trout.

Very true Dave. Chelsea are easy favourites, but they have to earn that right.

I fully agree....
However, I'm a bit worried about Chelsea's inability to dominate possession. Our midfield players are not cut out to keep lengthy periods of possession. The moment Lampard gets the ball, he immediately looks for the killer pass which, more often than not, works.. Hence why we always seem to be on the back foot in most games against quality sides but almost always come out on top.
About my cousin, I told her of Drogba's antics after the game which put a smile to her face. She thought it was funny..

I think in the heat of the moment and the few days that proceeds it, I feel a lot of people will blame Chelsea for behaving unprofessionally but as time progresses, they will realize the grave injustices that took place on Wednesday night..
My little 13 year old cousin and a die-hard Chelsea follower like myself, cried herself to sleep that night. What can one do or say to make her feel better?
I've gotten used to the Chelsea haters. More often than not, they come with the same crap. Drogba is a cheat, Lampard is fat, Money dont buy success etc etc.. It doesn't bother me anymore.. Todays 4-1 success surely put a good end to a terrible week..

Was the referee actually right in the Chelsea vs Barcelona match? Certainly, I don't think he had as bad a game as some people are making out! And what should be done about Drogba and Ballack's actions to the referee? What about this conspiracy theory? Do you beleive it?

The Great Debate is back!
This time it looks at the current buzzwords: Joey. Barton. What are your views on it? Does he deserve to play football again? Has he used up all his chances? Was it right that he was suspended? Check it out, I think this is one of the best Great Debates yet!

DeleteHey,
Following up yesterday's great debate is the one I've been waiting to write for a long time, and the one I think may be the best debate yet and a must-read for any football fan! Should video technology be introduced into football? Would doing so take away from the 'magic' that makes the game so great? And would it help or hinder the referees? Have your say in the Great Debate!
