Mike's Bio

Hi, I'm Mike & (to the endless annoyance of girlfriend) I love sport.

Football/Soccer (depending which side of the pond you are from), Rugby Union, Cricket, Boxing, Formula 1, Golf, NFL (bit of a Bears fan), NHL, MLB & many more besides. I can happily sit in front of the TV & watch what ever happens to be on the sports channels at the time.

But the first sport I was introduced to was football when, as a very young kid, I was taken by my dad to Goodison Park, the home of Everton FC. I was so young all I remember was sitting in the front row of the Upper Gwladys Street stand, on a cold mid week evening, & looking up into that ink black sky. Then seeing the contrast between it & the brightly floodlit emerald green pitch below. Still send shivers down my spine. That, & the noise from 40,000 people all shouting, cheering, booing & singing. Don't think I'd ever seen so many people all at once in the same place. I can't even remember who the opposition was in that first game or the final score, but that didn't matter because I was hooked.

And from supporting Everton a love of all sports developed. I'd go to as many sporting events as I could. And even had 6 years playing Rugby Union at a decent armature level. But Everton would always take priority, & when injury forced me to quit rugby, it was back to spending my Saturday afternoon's at Goodison.

So why post on the Bleacher Report? Honestly, I don't know. What I'm going to try & do is give a supporters perspective on the games I attend. Maybe it's the budding journalist in me trying to express it's self or maybe I should get a real hobby! What ever it is I hope people who read my post's find them informative & honest but above all interesting. Any 'constructive' criticism/suggestions would be appreciated.

  2. Hey! Thanks for the post. Glad you enjoyed The Blind Side. It is definitely one of my favorites. I'm happy to report that Oher will be with us again next year. We had a two day scare with him declaring for the draft, but he changed his mind. I'm ready to see what Houston Nutt will bring to the team It can't be any worse than when we had Coach O!
