Jake has yet to fill out a bio.
LMAO!! In other news, go back to the "13 ways you know your a true Duck fan" article and look for the post about Ted Kinney. His post didn't show up online, only on the mobile app... which is very very sad thing. I think he's out in the active theatre somewhere, serving our country and posting from a mobile device. So I reposted it. Some Duck fans need to give this guy some props! Very very sad his post got overlooked because it didn't show up online.
Heads up. Michael L created a Bama profile to attack us with. "Will Ponder" is the name. Its actually Michael L. Don't be fooled. lol
Totally agree Jake. And by young Duck fan, I don't necessarily mean age. I just mean that someone who just started following them recently, doesn't necessarily make them a bandwagon fan, because there's plenty of reasons why they might have just started following them other than the 4 straight BCS runs. Like maybe they know someone who just started going to school there, or perhaps they just wernt that familiar with them until technology caught up like it did with the internet, addidtion of more coverage like ESPNU and so on, on a national scale and so on.
And I remember 2002. Ugh!! Good one. The year Oregon got the cold shoulder from the BCS. lol!! They were 2nd only to the Miami Hurricanes that year, but didn't get to compete for a national title. If I remember right, it was Colorado and Nebraska that screwed things up. The buffs and the huskers had already played each other twice that year, once in the regular season and once in a conference title game. So the media deployed an "america doesn't need to see them play a third time" campaign, and Oregon didn't get to play in the Title Game, and didn't get to play in the Rose Bowl either because the Rose Bowl was the Title game that year, and they didn't play both the respective bowl game, and the title game at the same location in those days like they do now. So instead, Oregon went to the Fiesta to take on Colorado, and Miami took on Nebraska in the Rose Bowl (Title) game. Oregon stomped the Buffs, and Miami stomped the Huskers. Should have been Oregon and the Canes, theres just no doubt about it.
Far as retro uni's go. I agree. I loved the fighting duck "Kelly Green" ones. That color was worn decades ago, they used to have Kelly Green pants back in the 90's too. It was great seeing it make a comeback. I think the Civil War unis this year were also a throw back type. They used to wear yellow pants, yellow helmets, white jerseys back in the day. It looked very much like the days of old when I saw that game. I'd love to see them bring back the Duck fighting out of the "O" on the jerseys again as a throwback kind of like they did those fighting Duck ones you brought up. Anyway, lots of fun being a Duck thats for sure.
I'll tell ya a little story. I'm in my 30's, but yes I own an xbox360. lol In fact I'm not embarrased to say so, because alot of times when I'm looking at games, there are plenty of folks in there doing the same thing that are even older than I am. Anyway, back in the day I remember when NCAA football had a "create a team" option on it. The Nanooks up in fairbanks don't compete with NCAA football, but I created a team for them. But I also created a Oregon team, building the Jerseys and all that, messing around with the uniforms, I did a black helmet with the bright yellow "O" and so on, because you could actually use team logos in the options. So they were Oregon, but I did them up with black, silver, green, all that before the black helmets were even worn by the Ducks. Then, a couple years later, the black became reality! lol!! I was perty stoked to see it. One thing you gotta love about being a Duck fan. The traditionalist say "Oh your just ruining your sense of pride and tradition and bla bla bla" but if they knew Oregon at all, they'd know mixing it up is Oregon's tradition. I remember back when I was in middle school, watching guys like Tony Graziani, they were wearing green pants, yellow pants, white pants, and even had "Kelly Green" way waaay back long before Chip even thought about setting foot in Autzen Stadium. They even had helmet stickers for awhile (similar to an Ohio State), had a stripe down the middle of the yellow helmet one year, didn't other years and so on. I think its just new to, well bandwagon jumpers, but also younger fans who just havent been around long enough to have seen them back in those days. Anyway, sorry for blowing up your message board.
Ya thats no BS. Excellent point. By the way, I really like that helmet. I wish we couldve seen them wear that one this year. Carbon silver with the green liquid metal. Maybe next year I guess. First time I saw that one was when I saw your user pic on here.
Hahaha!! The infamous Michael L, constantly trying to convince everyone he's not a troll, yet puts together a profile and has a user pic like that. I think it's fair enough to say he wins the pathetic troll award for the entire cyber community online. lmao
