Back To the Future for the Women's Tennis Tour In 2010
11/22/2009
I’ve been involved in sports from my youth, playing organized sports such as little league baseball, football, basketball, and track and field. Basketball became the main event during college, but as reality set in that I would not be the number one draft pick in the NBA, my dream culminated into refereeing and coaching the game in later years.
Even as I delved into my business career, keeping abreast of the professional and collegiate sports world continued to be my ardent pursuit. I also realized that I still retained my competitive zeal. This has been fulfilled on the golf course and tennis courts.
My interest in sports has grown to include analysis of the players and their arena. The sports world has evolved over the years, producing bigger and faster athletes, higher salaries, etc., yet some things never change. The complexities of our athletes, their coaches and managers, and of course the fans, make for news that runs the gamut of our emotions. Yet isn’t that what it’s all about - not just the game but the people, the ones who profile the games.
• What gets our athletes motivated?
• How is the sports world affecting America?
• What do the fans really want?
• Why don’t the most talented teams win all the time?
These are some of the issues I address. I trust you will find my perspective to be challenging, and thought provoking. I welcome your thoughts and comments.

Andrew Tonge replied…
Kuznetsova won the French, but in my view she still took a step back the rest...
When Kim Clijsters announced that she was coming back to the women's tennis tour there was not a lot hype about it. No one really expected her to win many tournaments, much less a major, but she shocked the world by winning the U...
