I became a fan of the Oakland Raiders when I saw my first football game on TV. It was the 1976 AFC Championship game with the Raiders defeating the Steelers. I remember Curt Gowdy commenting about how cool Stabler was as he approached the line. I was hooked. Plus, at some point - possibly the next season - there was someone dressed up as Darth Vader in the stands and the hook sunk deeper. I've been a devoted fan ever since. I do have to point out that I'm not a blind fan ready to drink whatever Kool-Aid the team is serving and have had issues with the team over various things like the treatment of Marcus Allen, the move to Los Angeles, and recently, the signing of Javon Walker. I'll be as objective as a fan can be whenever I write the occassional article.
