JJ's Bio

Hey, I'm JJ and I'm originally from Oak Park, IL (which is a near western suburb of Chicago...I can see the Sears Tower from my house). I'm currently a freshman journalism student at the University of Missouri in Columbia, MO. First, I'm a huge White Sox fan--I've seen my Pale Hose play live 49 times in the last two years. My secondary pro sports love is the Bears and my third is the Bulls. I'm just now starting to really get into college football, thanks in large part to Missouri's run to the top 5 in 2007. I've been to every single home game and have also been to Missouri's wins against Illinois in St. Louis, Ole Miss in Oxford, MS, (formerly) #2 Kansas in Kansas City, and Arkansas in Dallas at the Cotton Bowl.

If I had to pick my top five sports moments/ that I've witnessed in person, it'd go like this:
1. Lorenzo Williams' safety of Kansas QB Todd Reesing to seal Mizzou's 36-28 victory over Kansas in the 2007 Border Showdown at Arrowhead Stadium. I was 7 rows off the Missouri end zone. It was incredible.
1a. Tony Temple's Cotton Bowl record-breaking run to give him 284 yards and 4 touchdowns in Missouri's 38-7 win over Arkansas
2. Tadahito Iguchi's 7 RBIs, including a game-tying grand slam with 2 outs in the 9th, in the span of 2 innings against Houston in 2006
3. Pig Brown's 100-yard fumble return for a touchdown against Illinois in 2007
4. Jermaine Dye's game-tying home run off Jonathan Papelbon with 2 outs in the 9th in 2006 (game ends up going 19 innings)
5. Martin Rucker breaking an Ole Miss linebacker's arm by charging into him in a game in 2007

My top 5 games I've ever been to:
1. Missouri 36, Kansas 28 (2007)
2. Missouri 41, Nebraska 6 (2007)
3. Missouri 38, Arkansas 7 (2008)
4. White Sox 2, Mariners 1 (2005)--Mark Buehrle's 99 minute game
5. White Sox 7, Red Sox 6 (2006)--19 innings.

  1. Good to see you back, man. I'm finally back home from school, which means I get to gripe about the Sox struggles on a weekly basis. Hopefully the roundtable starts this week.

  2. Hey JJ,

I just wanted to let you know that Bleacher Report has launched out of beta with an updated look and feel and some great new features. Check out the "Game On" link in the header to find out more.

Next week we'll be launching the site to the world with some public announcements—and it'd be great to get a contribution from you between now and Tuesday to make Bleacher Report's launch a success.

Let me know if you need any help with ideas or have questions. Have a great weekend JJ!

    Zander

  3. JJ-
Good to have you on board. Let us know if there's anything we can do for you. Otherwise, keep the content coming. Great reads.

  4. JJ, I haven't talked to you in awhile. How's college going?
