About Jim »

You should know I am a Cleveland sports junkie. The very moment I first heard Gib Shanley on the radio giving the play-by-play for the Cleveland Browns I was hooked. I went to sleep every summer night listening to Jimmy Dudley and Bob O'Neil broadcast the Indians games. All was right with the world when the Tribe won. I read the sports pages in the Plain Dealer every day before I even considered looking at the front page.

I hated west coast games and extra innings because I would always fall asleep before I knew the final score! Vic Davalillo was my favorite player because he was left handed, small, quick and could hit like me. Sudden Sam McDowell was my favorite pitcher -- he ruled!

My ultimate dream of playing major league baseball was shattered at the tender age of thirteen when I was relegated to a back up role playing right field:-( Yet, it was an amazing season. Our team won the Pony League Championship, I came to bat 37 times walked 30 and went 3 for 7 officially. That's right I made 4 outs the entire season! But alas, I was hit with the realization that I didn't have the athleticism to go to the next level:-(

Eventually, I had to grow up and become a computer geek, but mind you, one who lives and dies with his favorite Cleveland sports teams. When you read me, don't expect objective journalism. My passion for Cleveland sports and especially the Indians will not be breached by something as banal as objectivity.

Enjoy!

Hey Jim! Great work with the first Indians article. I'm the Indians' CL, so if you ever have a question, just let me know. We'll probably do stuff as a community this year as well. Hope to see more Tribe stuff from you in 09!
