About

My name is Marco Romanell and I am a freelance sports writer and I just started contributing to this site. I absolutely live and die by my beloved Ravens, Orioles and Terps basketball. Sports are my life, there is never a moment in my house where ESPN is not on. I do like to write articles about my favorite teams, but I am also knowledgeable of everything that goes on nationally in all the other sports. I love College Hoops, College Football, the NFL and MLB mostly, but can also cover some NBA and NHL if need be. Writing about sports has always been my dream and I am glad I got the shot to share my opinions with you, even if you don't agree with them. Thanks for reading and please give me your comments, I appreciate any feeback.

3/4 of the earth's surface is covered by water, the rest is covered by Ed Reed!!!

Lets go Ravens, Lets go Terps and Lets go O's!!!

Short List

  • Favorite Athletes

Ray Lewis, Joe Flacco, Ed Reed, Adam Jones (the orioles centerfielder, not pacman), Matt Weiters, Juan Dixon,Sean Mosley

  • Favorite Sports Teams

Baltimore Ravens, Baltimore Orioles, University of Maryland Basketball, Penn St Football, University of Maryland Football, Towson University(my alma mater so I have to like them lol)

  • Favorite Coaches

John Harbaugh, Gary Williams, Rex Ryan, Dave Trembley, Joe Paterno,Pat Kennedy

  • All Time Sports Moment

A few of them come to mind: Art Modell bringing football back to the great city of Baltimore, The Ravens winning the Super Bowl, Cal Ripken breaking Gehrigs record and the Terps finally winning the National Title, Eddie George crying on the ground after Ray Lewis ripped the ball out his hands and took it to the house to cement the Ravens 24-10 playoff victory over the Titans

  • Most Memorable Game Attended

The second game of the 2000-2001 NFL season, the Ravens came back from down 21 points to be the Jaguars. 2003 Week 17, watching Jamal Lewis break the 2000 yard barrier for the season. Cal Ripken 2,127th consecutive game.. he was 5 of away from the record but it was still an amazing night and whole season in Baltimore. Brian Roberts hitting a walk off homer off then Yankees pitcher Mike Stanton it was the only walk off I have seen.

  • Most Unbreakable Sports Record

Ripken's consecutive game played record, 56 game hit streak

  • Ruth or Mays?

Mays, he was more of an all around player

  • Unitas or Montana?

The 49ers were my favorite team before we got the Ravens but I have to go with Johnny U, I grew up hearing stories about him and he is a Baltimore Icon and it is a travesty that he is in the Hall of Fame as an Indianapolis Colt.

  • Jordan or Russell?

Jordan, the greatest of all time

  • Gretzky or Orr?

Gretzky, not a great gambler but one hell of hockey player.

  • Pele or Maradona?

Pele, I played soccer my whole life and it is probably my favorite sport. When I was younger I always wanted to be like Pele when I got older

  • Federer or Sampras?

Federer, the guy is better at a younger age then Sampras was and he will break all his records

  • Tiger or Nicklaus?

Tiger, although I wish I was fortunate enough to see Jack in his prime

  • Petty or Earnhardt?

Dale. Although I do not understand the obsession with NASCAR. I do not really consider it a sport.

  • Schumacher or Senna?

See comment above. The only indy car person I pay attention to is Danika Patrick for obvious reasons.

  • ACC, Big 12, Big East, Big Ten, Pac-12 or SEC?

ACC all the way baby. I live in ACC country and I will always love it and support it.

Jake Arrieta is the 36th overall prospect in baseball. He can't be underrated, can he? Can he? Wrong.

    Marco,

If you've ever read my writing, you'd know I believe in Andy MacPhail's rebuilding plan. I think we all know the Orioles have the bright future ahead of them. The O's have stockpiled on pitching, with guys like Tillman, Patton, Arrieta, Berken, Hernandez, Bergesen, Zagone, McCurry, and after this draft, we'll likely add another first round pitcher like Alex White, Aaron Crow, or Tyler Matsek. But who is the Orioles future ace? Is it Tillman? Patton? Matusz? Arrieta? Adam Eaton?

    Marco,

Good luck with the CBS Correspondent's competition. I'm vying for the Ravens spot too. Could be a huge break for one of us. Nice work on your articles. Take a look at mine if you have a moment, too. :)
