About

Hello there, I'm Mark and I found the Bleacher Report Sports Network by chance. Having graduated with a BA Journalism degree in 2007, I have aspirations to become a full-time sports journalist. I have a love and passion for football (soccer) and I support Charlton Athletic, who play in The Championship, one league below The Premiership in England. However, the club are in crisis at present at the wrong end of the table!

I have done work experience at Reuters Press Agency, The Sun, FanBanta.com and most recently, The Racing Post during the summer of 2008. I had my name published quite a few times with daily news stories, notably through their 'Match-in-Focus' Monday feature on a couple of occasions, but now I am looking for a full-time job in the profession.

I am currently a freelance football reporter for News Associates, who produce the Non-League Paper, so I am reporting on all matches at Blue Square Premier down to Isthmian/Ryman Premier Level. It's a great experience, as you get to work alongside and gain advice from fellow journalists on matchdays, whilst you can interview the odd famous name here and there after matches!

As for playing the beautiful game myself, I have recently had anterior cruciate knee reconstruction (ouch) and have been told I will not play again until August 2009, at which stage I will be 25 years of age, but not quite yet at the ''peak'' of my career! Although saying that, I have been lucky enough to play at a decent standard from district and county levels during my teen years, to Ryman Premier League level with Tonbridge Angels and also my University 1st XI alongside some excellent semi-pro standard players, which included Jonathan Bewers who once played for Aston Villa!

I am very interested to meet fellow sports journalists, and build up many contacts in the industry, but also gain as much advice as possible. If you would like any advice from myself regarding work experiences then please do not hesitate to contact me.

All the best...

    Hi Mark

I like what you are writing and have become a fan!

I was also looking at your bio and saw that you did a BA Journalism degree and want to do Sports Journalism.

Thats what I hope to do starting next year when I hopefully go to University.

I was wondering if there is anything I should do now to help me get into sports journalism or any advice you can give me at all!

    Cheers
