Iowa Hawkeyes football
Dude, I fully understand. I just hope the USAToday and AP voters do differently.
So, as a Hawkeye, were at that crazy game on Saturday?

After my ranking of offenses found great success, I am continuing the series, this time ranking the NFL's top receivers. Will the same men stay at the top of the list? Who will rise? Who will fall? Would love your feedback.

I understand your point, but I don't understand how you can say Florida wouldn't do as good as USC, when you clearly stated earlier that the SEC is much tougher than the PAC-10...
If UF is just behind USC, as you suggest, then I don't know why you wouldn't think they would be even better when playing in a less competitive conference.
If UF played in the PAC-10 during the BCS era, based on how they have done in the SEC, and depending on whether or not they beat USC heads up, they would either be in the Title Game or go to the Rose Bowl each year like USC does. . Either way they would easily receive a BCS bid each year, just like the Trojans do.

We will have to agree to disagree. You stated that USC has the advantage byfar, and I think your wrong....
Anyway, my whole point was that USC does get a BCS bid, and it IS thanks to playing INFERIOR opponents every season. USC has been the #1 in the PAC-10 since 2002. They have little competition to contend with on a yearly basis. What team has been at the top of the SEC since 2002? Half of the conference? Yea...Their is just more talent, and their dominance shows in the bowls.
Bottom line, those years you listed, USC got a free ride to the Rose Bowl in most. In the Rose bowl they faced BIG-10 opponents(obviously) which may have had a good record in the BIG-10 but thats proved to show nothing since.(See OSU, MICH.)
In those years of "bowl dominance" they beat Iowa, Michigan(twice), Choklahoma, and Penn St. All very good teams, but GREAT teams? I personally think not.
The only team they played of the same caliber was TX, and even though a close one, they received an L.
If USC gets through their measly PAC-10 schedule, unscathed, and regularly beats an opponent of their same caliber, then I'll move them above the more winning FL squad.

17 days ago, you commented on my profile(check back for reference) claiming that USC, not UF, has been the most dominant team in the BCS era....
Here is my argument....
You speak of USC and their BCS bowl appearances, and although the conference strength argument is tired, its quite hard to ignore the large talent gap that has existed between the SEC and the PAC-10, especially since the application of the BCS.
Give or take an Oregon, Ore St., or a UCLA here or there, USC is the only dominant team year in and year out. So wouldn't you think it would be easier for them to be at the top consistently, and therefore, grab the Rose bowl bid quite easily? The SEC has five championship programs(5 for 5 in championship game appearances) where as the PAC-10 has a mere 1(1 for 2 in CG app.). You can say whatever you want about that, but it's true, and it's clearly shows which is the MUCH more dominant conference, which obviously has quite a bit to do with a teams SOS and, therefore, the bowl that team plays in.
Take 2007, for example, the SEC had 10 out of their 12 programs holding winning records(.500 or better)...the PAC 10? Only produced 5 out of 10(half) winning programs....what does that equal? Half of the teams the Trojans played where losing programs...and their OOC schedule(which is suppose to be so "tough) consisted of 2-10 Idaho, and a 7-6 Notre Dame team.....Come on Spencer...Can we say "Rose Bowl"?
As far as being more dominant, UF IS the winningest program since 1990(fact). I'd say that falls under the definition of "dominance". UF has reached and won the champ. game in 2 out of the last 3 years....a feat, not only never accomplished in the BCS era, but I think you have to go back to the leather helmet days to match/surpass it.
So, concerning the BCS era, the gators have played in an obviously more potent conference, have won more games overall during the BCS era(and since 1990), and have more crystal balls.
....So yeah, me personally, I'd consider them more "dominant" than USC.
