John's Bio

I'm a Communications/Sports Journalism at Springfield College in Massachusetts. I love to write, enjoy watching or discussing any sport, and can't get enough of baseball. If I'm doing anything involving baseball, chances are there's a smile on my face. Currently I am serving as the sports editor of SC's school paper, The Springfield Student, as well as the Sports Director of both the TV and Radio Stations on campus. My journalism background began in high school writing for the Laker Legend at Silver Lake Regional High. I've also written for a couple of magazines, the Western Mass Sports Journal and the Pride Sports Journal. Journalism has already allowed me to be a part of online podcasts and to have my work featured on several websites. Since arriving at Springfield College I've had the chance work as a Boston Globe assistant covering men's basketball games at UMASS as well as a media relations intern for the AHL's Springfield Falcons. Additionally I was invited to last the 2008 NBA Basketball Hall of Fame Induction and spent the afternoon with Hakeem Olajuwon and Patrick Ewing. I've also been lucky enough to interview Billy Donovan and Roy Williams, and have been in attendance for the Hall of Fame Classic-a high school basketball invitational that Kevin Durant and Michael Beasely have played at-because of my connections to the Student. I feel like being a sport journalist would be one of the greatest jobs on the planet, and feel extremely lucky that I've already experienced some incredible things in this field. I will never take any of these experiences for granted, and I look forward to whatever I may encounter while pursuing this as a profession.

  10. Hey... I just edited your Rookie of The Year article, but the spacing is a little off. I'm going to work on fixing that, but I just wanted to give you the heads up.

  11. John-

How are you, my name is Aaron Torres, and I'm a member of he Bleacher Report here. I saw you were a Red Sox fan, and I wanted to let you know, that in the last few days I just got an exclusive interview with author John Frascella who is releasing a book called "Theo-logy: How A Boy Wonder Took the Red Sox to the Promised Land."

Anyways, the book is obviously about Theo Epstein and his rise as Red Sox GM, and is set to be released April 1. However, if you want to hear about the book before hand, please check out my website www.aarontorres-sports.com where the interview can be heard. Unfortunately I cannot post it on Bleacher Report because it is an audio file.

Let me know what you think, leave me a comment either on the website or here. Also if you have any questions please post them or send me an e-mail at ATorres00@gmail.com, as I am doing a follow-up interview with Mr. Frascella with fan questions. Thanks!

    Aaron

I'm hoping you'll check out my latest article about China, the Olympic games, protests, and our own responses to these current events. I'm making a concerted effort to reach out to people who have added me as a "favorite writer" to attempt to spark a discussion which affects us as sports fans and supporters of a forum for free-speech. Thank you for helping me to get the ball rolling!

You can find the piece here: http://bleacherreport.com/articles/16634

Please leave comments on your feelings and opinions.

    Thanks,

    Andrew
