Rautins was hot in the first half...second half, he and everyone else were ice cold.

I'm assuming Boeheim was experimenting with the defense because last year this team was built to play man and he played zone. Last night he played man when it's clearly built for zone with the absurd length of this team.

Michigan State went to the Sweet 16 the year they lost their exhibition game...so this is getting blown out of proportion when it comes to judging this team's talent. It's a great moment for LeMoyne, shocking upset, but nothing more.

I'm a busy man...I spent the last two days doing other BR assignments. There's really not much to write about...I stay away from game recap articles. I don't have enough of an opinion about it to make it a column. There's not much more to it than Boeheim tinkered with his lineup and played man defense instead of zone and it burned Jackson and Onuaku who aren't built to play man defense. No one could a shot outside of Johnson and it cost them dearly. I've never seen so many players miss wide open threes in one half in my life, it was pathetic.

I'll do a full BE preview at some point, but if I had to put together a team right now it'd be:

Harangody
Butler from WVU
Reynolds
Monroe
Hazell from Seton Hall

Second team:

Dyson
Walker
Deonta Vaughn
Rosario
Wes Johnson (Syracuse)

Fab Melo is in the Class of 2010, he'll be a freshman not this season, but next.

In the last three games of the tournament, AJ Price has shot 14 of 52, good for about a 28% shooting streak and is a stunning 2 of 12 from three, good for 16%. He's also dished out a mere 11 assists to 8 turnovers of those three games.

Kev, against the best you have to play your best to be the best. If that's AJ's best, then he certainly isn't one of the best guards in the country.

That elbow was as unintentional as it gets...any media member who has discussed it says it was a wrongful ejection....still haven't responded to why you and the rest of the Big east continues to defame Devendorf's name.

For the 234234th time, Devo never hit the girl. If you want to parade around here saying it that's fine but you are being a naive jerk defaming a guy's name. Yeah I'll admit, E isn't the greatest guy in the world, I certainly wouldn't trust him and he's definitely not an outstanding citizen, but to continue to spread this crap around is pathetic.

Kev-

Thanks for checking out my "College Basketball Power Rankings," that I posted the other day and commenting as well. I wanted to touch on what you said about Oklahoma. First off, I do think you're right, that the day-to-day, overall play in the Big XII isn't nearly what it is in the ACC or Big East.

That being said, it is a tough, physical league, where you have to show up every night to get wins. We've seen Texas and Baylor- two pre-season league favorites- really struggle, because they simply thought they were going to show up and "out-talent," everyone. So in that regard, give Oklahoma credit, because regardless of the opponent, they always show up to play and are getting wins, even if the competition isn't great.

One other point I wanted to make on Oklahoma as well. If you watch them play, you quickly realize that they are more than Blake Griffin. Yes he's the best player in college basketball- and honestly I dont think there's anyone else thats even close. But they also have three great guards in Willie Warren, Austin Johnson and Tony Crocker. And a good shutdown wing in Juan Patillo, and another physical banger in Taylor Griffin. To be honest, they're a lot deeper and talented than I expected them to be this year. I certainly consider them to be a Final Four threat.

So that's just my two-sense. Be sure to check back every Monday/Tuesday as I update the Power Rankings then. I'm always looking for feedback and insight, and a good discussion about college hoops or anything else thats on your mind.

Finally, please check out my website, www.aarontorres-sports.com. That's where all my work is, and I'm updating it constantly. I always like to get input from people on how the site can improve, and things like that.

Stay in touch, and I look forward to hearing back from you.

I can't think of a single argument for those guards of Lawson and Curry. Lawson hasn't been a disappointment in the least bit. 15 ppg, 6.5 assists, 3.4A/T, 46% from three. Curry does everything from score to distribute.

Looking back at my list: Curry, Lawson stay ahead of Price/Dyson, Abrams drops quite a bit. No. 4 is Flynn, he doesn't deserve that spot, but I'd still take him over Price/Dyson (when considering them individually). I wouldn't take him by much, but I still would. Darren Collison, Manny Harris, Wesley Matthews, Jeff Teague, Eric Maynor, and Jack McClinton are next after that. I'd take all those guys over either Price and Dyson. Jerel McNeal, Ellington, Sherron Collins are next on the list 11-13. I'd drop Ellington because he has been a slight disappointment. He'd be a toss up against Dyson or Price. Can't go wrong with either. McAlarney would definitely drop. He can't create his own shot and it has shown. Ben Woodside for NDST does everything and anything for the Bison, he deserves to be mentioned in the top 20. Devin Downey and Nick Calathes are the reasons Florida and South Carolina will make the tournament. As individual players they are better than Dyson/Price. Kalin Lucas for MSU is starting to get better shooting the ball to go along with his incredible floor general skills, same goes for Levance Fields.

The others to be considered: Jodie Meeks goes up there because of the way he's scoring.

Again, the two of them together make up a top ten backcourt in the country, but separately they aren't quite as good as all those guys on the list.

Like you said, the team doesn't need them to do anything. They did what they needed to do against Louisville, but at the same time they weren't close to spectacular.

Here's your response:

I did think Louisville was going to win easily because right now I thought they had been the better team lately and the game was in Louisville. UConn proved me wrong and looked like they might actually be the best team in the country.

On the concern of the top guards, Dyson and Price weren't very good last night. Offensively they didn't really do anything, defensively they were pretty solid. But considering the guard play of Louisville is its weakness, that isn't very surprising. Thabeet and Adrien make up the best frontcourt in the nation, you should be happy with that. Dyson and Price are a nice combo and make a very good guard tandem, but if we are talking individual talent they are borderline top 15/20 in the country.

Hey Kev,

I've decided to go ahead with the idea for doing a compilation of people's conference rankings. I'd love to have you participate if you're interested! The article about it is at

http://bleacherreport.com/articles/97928-take-two-call-for-your-ncaa-basketball-conference-rankings

and you can email me your rankings at nathanmedic2003@yahoo.com (or just leave them on my profile). Ideally, you can submit a top-10, but it's perfectly acceptable to submit a top-5, top-8 or whatever you're up to. Feel free to let me know what you think, and I hope you'll weigh in!
