About Jason »

Jason Kivela is a 2002 Syracuse University graduate born and raised in the Hartford, CT area. For him, home ties trump school ties so Calhoun trumps Boeheim when the teams clash head to head. He is also an avid follower of several other overly popular and over covered teams: the New York Giants, the New England Patriots (in any game not involving the G-Men), the Boston Red Sox, the Boston Celtics, Notre Dame football, and he misses his Whale tremendously.

Jason realized that the Hartford, CT area is no place for a single 20-something male to be and re-located to Washington, DC to pursue a career as a government contracts consultant for a year. Now he has resided in Boston since July 2008. He whole heartedly agrees with whoever said: "Happiness is Connecticut in your rear view mirror".

Like his sports teams, Jason's favorite sports writers are also the overly popular types - Peter Gammons, Peter King, and Bill Simmons. Other favorites include Tom Verducci, Don Banks, Jon Heyman, Jeff Jacobs, Michael Lewis, Stewart Mandel, Desmond Conner, and Mike Waters.

My wife's from CT and I got married in Hartford.

You're right, it's nothing for people in the 20s (unless you loooooooove insurance!).

We now reside in Raleigh, so she likes to quip that she's just following the Whalers around the country.
