When people ask me where I am from, they always get a confused look when I just say "the Midwest." However, growing up in Oklahoma, Texas, and Nebraska, I'm really lucky to have such strong ties to some of the best sports teams in history.
Of course, the Cowboys reign supreme for me. They are the most polarizing team (except maybe the Yankees) in America, which of course means that the more people hate them, God, the more I love 'em.
The Oklahoma Sooners/Nebraska Cornhuskers. This is the one that really blows people's minds, especially given the intense rivalry shared between the two going back to the Big 8. But I lived in both states, grew up rooting for both. One side of my family lives in Nebraska, one side in Oklahoma. The good news for me is that every year, one of them is probably going to be pretty good. And when they play each other, I always get to root for whoever has the most to lose. It's win-win, and I don't fell any guilt about it whatsoever. Try it, it's invigorating!
I think the Spurs are perhaps the classiest, most well-run franchise in all of sports. The have a philosphy of winning as a team, and putting everything else - big contracts, huge stars, scoring title, etc - by the wayside. If only my favorite NFL team could do the same...hrmm.
I love sports. I love writing about sports. I love reading about sports. Not so great at playing sports. Of course, if Jerry Jones ever needs a practice squad kicker, he knows where to call.
The title explains itself: How the Dallas Cowboys Stole My Heart.
If you have the time, I'd love for you to check it out. If not, no worries. Thanks!
Just posted my latest. Breaking down my expectations for the Cowboys' 2009 season. If you have a second, I would love your feedback, but if you cannot get around to it, no worries! Thansk!
We have seen a ton of lists, rankings, etc. all over B/R. I finally tried one of my own, but I tried to tackle this particular list from a different angle than the norm. My list is of the 10 Most Valuable Offensive Players in the NFL.
These players aren't necessarily the best in the league, or even the best at their positions, but rather the 10 players that mean the most to their particular team's SB chances.
Would love your input if you have a chance. If not, no worries. Thanks!
Jared:NFL runningback Ryan Moats was pulled over last week on the way to the hospital to say goodbye to his dieing mother-in-law. He was detained and harassed by the officer for almost 15 minutes, and in that time his mother-in-law passed away. He was not able to get to her in time to say goodbye.
I was heartbroken when I heard this story, but enraged when I actually saw a 17 minute video of the entire incident. I have never seen such an abuse of power in my life.
Because of the nature of this subject, this article was pretty important to me. I would love if you could check it out when you get a chance. If not, no problem. Thanks!
I'm not so sure that there is enough sports content to truly classify this as a sports article, but here is my latest work. It was fun to write so I hope its fun to read.
I am doing some "Spring Cleaning" by airing a few gripes I have about my Dallas Cowboys.
If you have a chance and want to, check it out. If not, absolutely no worries. Thanks!
This is my first stab at college hoops... My Baylor Bears had a HUGE win over Kansas today in the Big XII tourney, and I just had to celebrate! Check it out if you have a chance. If it's not your cup of tea, no worries! Thanks!
Myself, James Williamson, and Andrew Nuschler have put together a Dallas Cowboys' roundtable. Our second installment is focusing on—you guessed it—the news of the Terrell Owens release.
It's a lengthy read, but there is some pretty good stuff in there. Check it out if you have a chance. If you can't get around to it, no worries. Thanks!
Despite the fact that I knew little about Corey Smith and Marquis Cooper before this weekend, their tragic boating accident has really hit me kind of hard. I think it is a pretty heartbreaking story, and I think that we as fans can learn a lot from it.
Check it out if you have a chance. If not, no worries! Hope you enjoy!
I have debated whether or not I wanted to get in the middle of the Kurt Warner fumble drama, and I finally decided that yes, I do.
Here is my take on the officiating controversy in the Super Bowl. If you have a chance, check it out. If not, then hey, thats allowed too!
If you have a chance, check out my latest article. I'm weighing in on Terrell Owens' new reality show with VH1 (Sneak Preview: I don't like it AT ALL!)
If you have a chance to give it a read, great! If not, no worries. Thanks!
