Hey S,

Hope all's well.

I just wanted to ask you, how do people rate Denilson of Arsenal in Brazil? I remember Wenger describing him to be a mix of Rosicky and Gilberto Silva - so, is he like Fabregas or is he a holding player?

What have you made of his progress..? I know for a fact that managers like Ferguson and Benitez rate him highly.

Also, what do you know about the left-back Pedro Botelho? I've heard really good things about him as well.

Hope we can have a decent chat about football in South America in the future.

just edited your most recent article - but as I can't leave editor feedback right now I thought i had better leave a quick note to say I changed the spelling in your article to 'Thiago Neves' - as I was fairly sure this has become the accepted spelling. Thanks for that S. I've seen some clips of Tiago Neves and he looks like a fantastic player. He has an unstoppable left foot! I'll be sure to check up on Tarta soon too. Brazil is practically a conveyor belt of talented and promising youngsters. At least that's what it seems like to me. And it's funny that soon after you mentioned Neves he goes and scores two goals. Bad news for Anderson though, right? You think Neves will take his starting place?
Brazil look like they could win it all. I know Belgium, China, and New Zealand aren't exactly the most testing of opponents, but something just tells me Brazil will be hard to stop as the tournament progresses.

Thanks for that S. I appreciate it. I knew I could count on you. There's not really anyone else I could talk to who would know anything about them. Not exactly sure what the deal is with all the Brazilians arriving on the scene at Old Trafford. Having four at one time is a record for us. I doubt we'll see very much of the Da Silva twins and Rodrigo though. Just Anderson again.
But I think it's becoming harder to produce talent through the youth groups with the high standards these days so maybe it was just easier for Ferguson to look to Brazil for some promising youngsters. Who knows though.

Thanks S for getting back to me so soon. I appreciate it as I honestly didn't know much about them before we agreed terms with them about a year ago. Do you know anything about Rodrigo Possebon from Brazil too? People say he's got potential but I don't know anything about him since he just came out of the reserves.
And I guess it is interesting that those two are twins. Maybe that's why they got so much publicity.
I saw your response to someone's article today btw, and I have to agree with you. I was in Kenya and even little kids living in poverty talk about Brazil and how they are the best country in the world when it comes to playing football. And in truth, Brazil is an inspiration to a lot of people and a lot countries.

It can be very British dominated here at BR... and for me it went on overload during pre-season when nothing was going on...

I love EPL/SPL for what they are but knowing so many write about them why not try your hand at something other...

The Olympics were coming and not much if anything was being said...

You write with great passion that I really respond to... if you didn't write about South America who would S... y

You have ruffled some feathers for sure I love it, no matter what I don't believe there are enough writers who vary their subject matter and you just hit a nerve... but everyone if free to do as they please...

When we first signed him I have to admit I was really worried considering how big of a flop Kleberson was for us. But after Anderson's first season I am relieved to have seen him settle well and put in a lot of good performances. He obviously has his weaknesses. Shooting is probably his main one. But at his age I think he's only going to improve and get better for United... and Brazil.

Funny that he makes you think of me. The boy has my full support, as well as most Manchester United fans. I was so impressed by him and I had such high hopes for him too that I bought his jersey back in December. I won't regret it, just as SAF won't regret buying him.

We'll see though. Didn't catch the Brazil vs. Singapore game. Did he start and how did he perform alongside the rest of the Brazil squad?

You have to outsmart the other guys by predicting who will play the best in real life matches. I've got a few of the bleacher report guys signed up for the league. Hey man i respect your opinions as they seem well founded and based on a secure knowledge rather than emotion. In commenting on the world cup it was mainly as a neutral as I am New Zealander but normally cheer for Brazil because of have good friends from your country. The world club championship is an odd one for me because it seems more about the money than the fans or football, constantly playing in Japan is just annoying to me. But yeah fair call it seems the South american club sides have the edge in this department as well.
The reason I am a strong follower of the english game is that growing up here the only coverage we ever got of any football was from england, and the world cup. alot of british came out to live here in the 50's and 60's as well so their mindset and ways dominate New Zealand football, unfortunately, haha. nigeria in the 94 world cup were cool, was it amokachi who got that screamer against greece? cant quite remember. thats is a crack up 'Ronaldo breaks wind'.

I totally agree with you about Anderson. By no means do I think he is overweight and clumsy. I think he can develop into a great midfielder. He's already made huge strides in his first season in England. He's an excellent tackler, very strong, not bad in the air, fast, and pretty good with the ball as well. He just lacks an eye for goal. Otherwise he is a great footballer and Manchester United would be out of their minds to sell him. The fans would have an uproar!

all ur digs about CR7 and is big game blunders do not affect me.
He is still the best player in the world and does not require a EURO medal to prove it. I am not a big fan of the guy but adore his skill on the ball and respect his talent.

i dont mind as to who wins the title coz I support Argentina and not any European team.

Yeah I read an intresting quote from Juninho the other day, he said that the Brazil job is actually the worst football job in the world because of the pressure of having to win every time and also win with style. Weird to hear that from a player who actually played in a World cup winning side.

Was just watching highlights of the Brazil game and although they were defeated it was still very enjoyable football to watch. Was good to see Anderson come on, although he contributed little but long range shooting.

The goal against Argentina for Ecuador really stood out.

I definitly will be watching the full game of the Brazil v Argentina game. Cannot miss that one!

Thanks S. I remember one of my friends went travelling around South America, and went to quite a few games. After a few months, when he came back he just said the talent there was unbelievalble and that the trip alone was worth it just to see the football being played there.

He said "There's this player, Carlos Tevez, and I guarantee now that he will be playing for one of the top teams in a few years." Needless to say, I just laughed at him, not knowing who Tevez was and just said, yeah yeah whatever mate.

And the rest is history, and now he just laughs at me. So now Im going to keep myself educated to avoid any further embarrasments.

Loved your article on Riquelme it got me back into everything.

Your gist on English domination is sound, my point is this, what has taken English so called domination so long, they have had the resources and finance now for many many years.

AC Milan to me are going to be European Champs next season, I just think think with 4-5 signings they will be strong as ever, in competition they are a different breed much like Real Madrid if they can get there act together, history speaks volumes.

I think Roquelme wasn't signed in time to play against AC Milan. The transfer agreements started in January so at the time of the game he was still a Villareal player.
