About

I went to my first Redskins game in 1967 and I've been hooked on the NFL and the B&G ever since. I've written two books on the Skins and I have the longest-running Skins blog on the internet.

I've been covering the Redskins for Warpath Magazine at Redskins Park and at FedEx Field since 2001.

Short List

  • Favorite Athletes

Sonny Jurgensen, Tiger Woods, Clinton Portis, Sean Taylor, John Riggins, Michael Jordan

  • Favorite Sports Teams

Washington Redskins, Virginia Tech Hokies, Washington Nationals

  • Favorite Coaches

Joe Gibbs, Vince Lombardi, Frank Beamer

  • All-Time Sports Moment

John Riggins breaks a tackle and goes for a touchdown on fourth and one and the Redskins beat Miami in Super Bowl XVII

  • Most Memorable Game Attended

Super Bowl XVII in the Rose Bowl. Over 100,000 people there, and you could look every one of them right in the eye, an amazing sight. It was a tense, taught game throughout, one of the most underrated SB's every, and the Skins won.

  • Most Unbreakable Sports Record

I think that Cal Ripken put the consecutive-games streak record out of reach. Someone will get lucky and break DiMaggio's 53-game hitting streak at some point.

  • Ruth or Mays?

Ruth. The Say Hey Kid was one of the best ever, The Babe was THE best ever.

  • Unitas or Montana?

Johnny U. I like Montana, too, but when Unitas played the corners could bump all the way down the field, linemen could not hold and QB's were not a protected species.

  • Pele or Maradona?

    Who?

  • ACC, Big 12, Big East, Big Ten, Pac-12 or SEC?

ACC by geography and school affiliation, but the SEC has the best football year in and year out.

    Hey Rich,

My first column as an FC begins with the chances the Baltimore Ravens have at making the Super Bowl. I'll tell you why the historic history, and experience of the ball club, can propel them to Miami this February. Appreciate any feedback!

Aron Glatzer asked me to compile the official B/R NFL Power Groupings for Week Two. (Angel Navedo did the same for week one).
