Rich's Bio

I went to my first Redskins game in 1967 and I've been hooked on the NFL and the B&G ever since. I've written two books on the Skins and I have the longest-running Skins blog on the internet.

Rich Writes About

The Short List facts and information about Rich Tandler

Favorite Athletes

Sonny Jurgensen, Tiger Woods, Clinton Portis, Sean Taylor, John Riggins, Michael Jordan

Favorite Sports Teams

Washington Redskins, Virginia Tech Hokies, Washington Nationals

All Time Sports Moment

John Riggins breaks a tackle and goes for a touchdown on fourth and one and the Redskins beat Miami in Super Bowl XVII

Most Memorable Game Attended

Super Bowl XVII in the Rose Bowl. Over 100,000 people there, and you could look every one of them right in the eye, an amazing sight. It was a tense, taught game throughout, one of the most underrated SB's every, and the Skins won.

Most Unbreakable Sports Record

I think that Cal Ripken put the consecutive-games streak record out of reach. Someone will get lucky and break DiMaggio's 53-game hitting streak at some point.

Ruth or Mays?

Ruth. The Say Hey Kid was one of the best ever, The Babe was THE best ever.

Unitas or Montana?

Johnny U. I like Montana, too, but when Unitas played the corners could bump all the way down the field, linemen could not hold and QB's were not a protected species.

Pele or Maradona?

Who?

Pac 10, Big 12, Big 10, SEC, ACC, or Big East?

ACC by geography and school affiliation, but the SEC has the best football year in and year out.

  9. Rich,

See that little box in your right/top corner "Rich writes about..." Check your Baseball stories.

Quite a number of your Redskins pieces are tagged Cincinnati Reds, NOT Redskins.

That's holding you back in the reads department and I'm sure it's screwing up your GoogleNews presence for 'Skins fans.

  10. Hey Rich,

I am one of the two NFL community leaders here at Bleacher Report, if I haven't introduced myself to you yet. Hello!

There will be a contest here at BR involving NFL writing. The format will divide the contestants into divisions where they will face off head-to-head each week and tally an overall record throughout the season. The matchups will be judged on number of reads. There will be a Community Leader assigned to each division to housekeep things within their respective division.

I was wondering if you would be interested in assuming the role as head of a division?

I'm really excited about this latest contest, so please get back to me as soon as possible!

  11. Hey Rich,
If you get the chance I'd be happy if you could read my recent article. It's just a bit of humor about the whole Favre situation. Thanks.

  12. What are your thoughts on the Taylor trade? I'm curious as to the mindset of a Redskin fan.

  13. Hi Rich,

Nice article on Jason Campbell. Would it be OK if i posted your article on my website (www.bleedeaglesgreen.com) as a perspective on another NFC East team? I would of course note you as the writer.

Please let me know and thanks in advance!!

  14. Hey

just writing to tell you that I am no longer writing for Bleacher Report. I have embarked on several new ventures of my own and they are in direct conflict content-wise with BR.

Two of my blogs (mrflushing.com and blognyg.com) have been incorporated into the Yardbarker network and and a third one - ny giant nation - is being run by sportsblognet.com

I also bought into a sports video site that is in its infancy - smackcaster.com - which we are still developing....

  15. I know you are a Redskins fan, but if you have a moment please check out www.bleedeaglesgreen.com and pass along to any Eagles fans...

    THANKS!
