I'm all about the Texas Longhorns. I graduated from UT-Austin in 2007 with a degree in Marketing. I love the Cowboys, Spurs, Horns, and anyone playing the Sooners.
Charles hasn't written anything yet.
And yes, Osborne substituted extremely liberally on offense and defense.
Two good case in points that illustrate this.
1991 Nebraska Vs Missouri in Lincoln. NU 63 MU 6
On the surface it looks like it could be a case of NU running up the score. But. looking at the boxscore reveals something else. Nebraska ran the ball 68 x's! for 500+ yards and completed only 13 passes, none for a td.
On offense Nebraska played 3 qbs and a rotation of 4 rb's plus every conceivable offensive line combination and also substituted liberally on defense. Memo to MU. Tackle the guy with the ball.
1995 Nebraska Vs Arizona St. Nebraska wins 77-28 over a ASU team that the very next year is playing Ohio St in the Rose Bowl for the NC.
Again, at face value it looks as if NU ran up the score. But, the box score reveals something else. Nebraska was up 28-0 in the first qtr and 35 -7 at end of first qtr. Halftime score was 63-21.
I was at this game and ASU had no chance at stopping the NU offense and they never woud have and would have given up over 100 points if Tom Osborne hadn't gotten reserves in the game.
Also, NU up 28 in the first qtr starts to substitute very liberally on defense allowing ASU to get 21 first qtr points on reserves ASU leaves first team offense in. That's ok though.
If, not for Tom Osborne and Charlie McBride substituting as they did early in the game this game would have gone down as an all time blow out over a team that the very next year plays for a NC. A team with future NFL players like Plummer, Poole, and Tillman, RIP.
This game could have been 110 - 10 if Tom Osborne and the Nu staff had decided to make that statement. Tell me again, what do you want a run based t4eam to do, and one that substitutes so very liberally.
And don't whine or make issue of Nebraska blowing teams out on the road in the old Big 8 or Big 12. Guess what, Nebraska had to abide by the same limit on the travel roster as every other team. That means far less chance to get reserves in the game because they aren't on the travel roster.

hey Charles,
Tell me this.. I assume that you're referring to Nebraska under Osborne in it's heyday.
Explain something to me.. How can a team that has a run based offense, and one that substituted so liberally on offense be accused of running up the score?? Would you have the running back take a knee, fall down purposely, run out of bounds not allowing himself to be tackled?
And don't tell me, "Well, Nebraska was still running the option late in games." So, what! The option has been a staple of college football and one of it's most basic and fundamental plays for 60+ years. Stop it. Tackle the guy with the ball!
As far as Nebraska being on the wrong end of a few of those lately. So what? I'm a big boy and can take it. Unlike whinney texASS fans crying about the BCS.
FYI..
Don't lose to TT and you texASS and it's fans have nothing to whine about.
Frankly, after that pathetic/ugly performance against OSU, a team that regular gets beat down by USC and Florida, I think UT wanted no part of Florida.
