About

I have done my own bracketology once the conference season starts for the past ten years. I grew up a Syracuse fan but also root hard for my alma mater Kentucky. I don't always take the popular view of things but I don't get offended by dissent if it's presented well. I also wrote for a popular horse racing publication for over five years.
Look for my first novel, "Exiles on Front Street", to come out soon from Strategic Book Publishing! I am currently at work on my second novel, "Generation Blindside".

Short List

  • Favorite Athletes

Larry Bird, Wayne Gretzky, Secretariat, Lawrence Taylor

  • Favorite Sports Teams

UK Wildcats, New York Football Giants!!, Syracuse Orange, Boston Celtics

  • Favorite Coaches

John Wooden, Bill Parcells, Billy Martin

  • All-Time Sports Moment

Super Bowl XLII!! Also '96 and '98 and '03 NCAA Tournaments.

  • Most Memorable Game Attended

1990 - UK, seriously undermanned, blow out LSU which had Shaq, Chris Jackson and Stanley Roberts.

  • Most Unbreakable Sports Record

Not so much a record but a milestone. No pitcher will win 30 games in a season. Who even gets 30 decisions anymore?

  • Ruth or Mays?

Mays was a more complete player.

  • Unitas or Montana?

Montana had a little less to work with. Remember that Unitas had pretty decent running games.

  • Jordan or Russell?

Jordan by a little. Both had immense skills but Jordan had competitive disorder, which puts him just over the top despite Russell's 11 titles. Also, Russell had a lot more to work with.

  • Gretzky or Orr?

Greztky. No one will come close to 200 points in a season again - if there ever is a season again.

  • Pele or Maradona?

Pele - behaved with a lot more class.

  • Federer or Sampras?

Federer had a tougher field to compete against than Sampras.

  • Tiger or Nicklaus?

Nicklaus. Tiger had a chance to pass his major record before the wheels came off - don't think he gets it now.

  • Petty or Earnhardt?

Petty but might have been Earnhardt if only.

  • ACC, Big 12, Big East, Big Ten, Pac-12 or SEC?

Follow the SEC and Big East the closest in college hoops but think the Big Ten is the class of the college hoops universe in 2012-13.

    Hi Marc-
I am beginning a very exciting adventure, and looking for support from the B/R community. Beginning this September I will visit every pro sports stadium in the span of one calendar year- becoming the first person to ever accomplish the feat. If you would be willing to contribute to the fund so I can accomplish this goal, or even to pass along to others who may be interested, I would be greatly indebted to you. Let me know if you would like more information. Thanks

    Hey,

The turmoil surrounding the 1977 Yankees earned them the nickname of “The Bronx Zoo.” The current 2009 Yankees have an interesting blend of leaders and pranksters, so I decided to create a LITERAL “zoo.”

Check out what animal each Yankee would be reincarnated as in a next life.

    Thanks everyone!

    Hey,

It’s been a very long time since I have extended an article of mine to the Bulletin Boards of my friends/fans, but this one is filled with the true venom and passion of a frustrated Yankees fan. The days of consistent success are over, and this baseball lifer is blaming Brian Cashman. Read how he has displayed the baseball knowledge of a little leaguer in assembling Yankee teams of the last 7 years.

I would love to hear your feedback on this one. Thanks everyone!

    Hey,

The Yankees have been putrid against Boston this year, especially over a 3-game sweep in Fenway Park. They are returning to the scene of the crime tonight, and this slideshow highlights 5 major reasons why this time around could be very different:

I would love to hear your feedback and input, and I look forward to talking to you soon. Thanks in advance!
