Hi everybody, my name is Matt McMullen. I'm a sophomore at the University of Missouri where I am studying journalism and sports management. I grew up in the Kansas City area and am a passionate fan of the Kansas City Chiefs and (sigh) the Kansas City Royals.
In high school, I served on the school newspaper for three years and was sports editor for two of those years. I have contributed to numerous online user-based sports blogs, as well. Sports aside, I also appeared as a guest on a political talk show on Kansas City public radio in 2010.
In high school, I had the privilege of interviewing and covering several future NCAA Division-I athletes in football, tennis, volleyball, baseball and soccer, and covering two future professional athletes in tennis and the MLS.
My interest in sports began at a very young age in 1993, when I attended my first baseball game. The game happened to be George Brett's last. I really began following sports in 2003, which happened to be the best year for Kansas City sports in years. The Chiefs marched to a 13-3 record and the Royals actually had a winning season. Since, I've traveled the country with my father making it to 15 MLB ballparks, in addition to several Chiefs games and multiple Missouri Tiger football and basketball games.
Sports is my passion, as is writing and reporting, and I look forward to sharing that with the B/R community.
