David's Bio

David is a junior at Washington University in St. Louis. He grew up in Cleveland, OH raised as a Browns, Cavaliers, and Indians fan. He enjoyed the Indians' dominance of the mid-90s and is currently "Witnessing" LeBron's greatness on the Cavs. The Browns are finally back on the path to success, which gives a reason to celebrate.

David is primarily a fan of his home state college, The Ohio State Buckeyes. College Football is his passion. In an ideal world where money nor time mattered, he would tour the country like ESPN Gameday and watch a different game every week.

The best sports book David has ever read is Buzz Bissinger's "Friday Night Lights." More telling than the glamour of playing in front of 10,000 screaming fans every Friday, the book opens one's eyes to the less endearing behind-the-scenes aspects of big-time high school football. The high school football in some of these smaller cities is a way of life. The casual outsider views the players as demigods, but they are really tragic heroes, cast aside once their services have been completed. Buzz went a little crazy on Will Leitch and bloggers in general, but I still appreciate his body of work.

Will Blythe's "To Hate Like This is to be Happy Forever," a story about a man's love for UNC basketball is also a good read for the sports fan. Blythe follows Carolina's eventual National Championship season in 2005 as he interviews players, fans, coaches (including arch-nemesis Coach K), even priests to determine the root of his inner beast -- his hatred for Duke.

The Cavs could lose in the first round or they could make it back to the Finals - it just depends on how well everyone around LeBron decides to play, and how healthy he is. Really the most frustrating thing about this team is that you see them play so well in stretches, and then so miserable in others. Long answer short, I have no clue how they'll do. What do you think?

Just wanted to fill you in on the mock draft plan.

I’m going to do a random draw for teams this weekend. So if you want to actually make picks, please let me know before Sunday morning (unless you already have, then don’t worry about it).

The plan right now is to hold the mock draft in a chat room on April 19th at 2:00 PM EST. Please let me know if this works for you. Depending on everyone’s availability, we may move the time around a bit. I’ll send out the chat room info and the exact time it’s scheduled towards the middle of next week.

The format will be like this:

I’ll announce that the Dolphins are on the clock, whoever is making their pick will make it and give their reason for the pick. Everyone else will get a few minutes to comment on the pick. Then we’ll announce the next team in on the board.

I’m not sure yet if we’ll put all of the comments in the article (I would like to), it depends on how long it ends up. We may end up having to select the best comments for each pick.

Touche David. However, I think we both can agree that it was a joint effort in Toronto between McGrady and Carter. 2nd of all I took your advice, and nowhere did it say the players mentioned weren't playing when Tracy was a star, you just now added that. Don't change your initial stance, the fact is those players were playing then. Consider Lebron leading the team to the Finals irrevalent. Manu Ginobili averages

David, David, David. I thought you were a fan. Tracy McGrady was drafted to who? The Toronto Raptors in the 1997 NBA Draft. What conference did the Raptors play in? The Eastern Conference. How can you forget? He was teammates with cousin Vince Carter.

From now until the opening weekend of college football I am going to be writing articles requesting votes for the All-Time Greatest College Football Team. Each article will request votes for the best player at each individual position, as well as a head coach. The week before the opening weekend of the season, I will tally up the votes and submit a fan’s voted, “Bleacher Report All-Time Greatest College Football Team.”

I don’t usually solicit reads for an article, but I am for this one. Because obviously it would require reads for votes, and votes for a team.

No kidding, Clemson definitely has the talent now. I put them first on the list because my friends play on the team and I can research them easier. Clemson is really no joke this season.
Also in the article I see UNC coming out of nowhere, becoming a top in the conference. They have to get through VT though, and thats hard with Brandon Ore, he plays like Barry Sanders. Seen some amazing stuff out of that guy, not as far as McFadden plays, but some great Sanders moves.
Maryland will be the team to contend with, Virginia wont be much of a challenge to Clemson I dont feel like.
But even if Clemson went undefeated this season.. due to strength of schedule, Clemson would not get a National Championship trip. Rather, probably play Georgia, Oklahoma, or Texas. Clemson needs to get out of that in state contract and start scheduling some out of state competition. Like Wake Forests hardest game this season will be a home game against Cal State. If Clemson could get Cal, Boise, and say Central Michigan or Missouri in 2009.. There would be no contest on schedule strength.

You wouldnt believe it, but Clemson has two more top QB's coming in next season.. and a running back from my area named Larry Raper. Keep your eyes on this kid, he runs a 4.09 this past junior season. When I saw him playing our counties 2-A team in playoffs, this kid was untouchable. I see him causing a stir as the next McFadden.

Hey man, thanks for adding me as well. You've got some great articles, even for a Big 10 guy.

The Tide did have an amazing recruiting class. I just hope they can find some consistency with their success. Anything good they have had has been in spurst over the past decade.

Your Buckeyes continued to rack up also, on top of a great returning roster. I look for them to make it back to the championship game this year. Georgia may be the only team coming close at this time to having the experience, depth, and talent that OSU has. Even with the disappointment of the loss to LSU I know Buckeye nation has to be thrilled about the upcoming season.

Yeah, I've been a Tar Heel basketball fan since about the time Chris Webber helped UNC secure a NC.

Thanks for adding me to your list of favorite writers. I don't really know much about anything so I stick to the humorous stuff. I try to leave the facts out of it! I saw in your bio your a Cleveland Indians fan so you've gotta remember when Albert Bell zipped a fan with a ball between innings because the fan was hastling him? Then the Indians tried to explain he was warming up with the ballboy and he overthrew him and hit the fan on accident. Back when he was at LSU (I'm an LSU fan living in New Orleans) he got arrested for drinking and driving. I think LSU got him out of it some kind of way. Well, anyway, we couldn't resist going to see him and LSU play the University of New Orleans in New Orleans right after he got busted because a friend of mine figured it'd be a great time to rag the hell out him (I never said we were Albert Bell fans and he was called Joey Bell back then). So, after about three innings sitting out in right field where he could hear this guy I'm with (did I mention it was 50 cent draft night), Joey decides he's had enough. He comes out to right to warm up with the ballboy and puts a laser into the right field bleachers taking out two of the draft beers and missing the guy I'm with by a foot. Even back then he couldn't make a decent throw. When I saw the Cleveland thing on Sports Center and all the explanations they came up with for how it happened (especially overthrowing the ball boy) I about coughed up a lung I laughed so hard.

If anything, I owe you a huge apology. I understand your frustration with the hometown pride thing. My Cardinals didn't make the playoffs. My Rams just plain sucked! And we don't even have an NBA team. In all honesty, this season was just terrible. But on the lighter side, the Browns kicked some major ass this season, even though they got screwed in the end. The Indians did beat the Yankees. And the Cavs made it to NBA Finals. How many fans can say they can't talk because they screamed so much their voice left them.

Anyhow, you are a great writer, no matter what the anonymous yahoos say, and besides, if they didn't like it, they wouldn't read it. You keep doing what you do, man.

Me and you. We got no problem. I actually love the articles you write. Though I don't always agree with them, they're good. But what I can't figure out is if you're more upset about me dropping the wrong name or the article itself. In any event, you are the king of the college football analysis. But there are a few things to know. 1) Bonzi sounds way better than Beanie anyway. 2) I went to bat for Ohio State when I called the game a sham with LSU in it, and you were nowhere to be found. 3) If you read the "Bayou Beatdown" column, you would have known that I did watch the game, but I was on the sidelines in regards to who I was rooting for. 4) I am a Florida Gators fan and have been since 1982, and you weren't bashing my column last year in that championship blowout. and 5) With guys like you around, I'm sure that getting together for beers and football talk is definitely in the immediate future. Sorry about the "anal" comment. But hey, Ohio State only has to hear from once this year, so I wouldn't worry too much...unless they play Florida in the NCAA Tournament again.

Two odd stories that can be blamed on my Dad.

I'll break it down in as condensed as I can get it. My dad grew up in Pittsburgh after he came over from Italy. So he raised me a Steeler fan, cause his Uncle did it to him.

Michigan came from an outside source. My dad worked with a guy who had 3 sons all go to Michigan. They went to every home game. They had so many tickets, that he would take a few people up. One week my dad fixed his computer and as a kind gesture he took him up to the game, and brought me a long. I got hooked on the atmosphere. I know some people like them just to hate the Buckeyes(the same people that LOVED Florida last year and now mysteriously love LSU), but I have a genuine reason. Haha

Of course the Indians are a hometown thing. Thanks for the read.

I know Firefox generally has the best compatibility with our system. Also, you may want to try copy/pasting all articles into a NON-Microsoft Word word processing program before loading them into the submission module...as that usually cleans up underlying formatting problems. Failing that, we'll continue to get you the assist where necessary.

Hell yes it would. I am hoping and praying that we don't do a repeat. Some of these SEC fans are so arrogant, just imagine how they'd be if we did it again. If we actually do win it all, I'm going for an "I told you so" article with at least 500 comments, lol.

No, but on a serious note, Beanie has really stepped up these last three weeks. It's really nice to see a dominant rushing attack offense (traditional Buckeye football) coming back. I got to see Terrelle Pryor on his official visit Saturday. Imagine the implications once he commits. Terrelle, Beanie, Saine, Robo, and Small, among some others... Can't wait, man.

Sshhh...we want to keep that quiet.

We've been able to move the ball whenever Sharpley's at the helm. If our defense can avoid giving up the big plays (i'm worried about the rb's breaking through for 20+ yards but i'm sure the grass at ND stadium will be long as hell), then I think we'll be in the game. I don't have a lot of faith in USC's ability to destroy us through the air.

If ND can win special teams and avoid more than 1 turnover, then I think we have a good shot.

South Carolina beat Florida two years ago at home and had the winning fg try blocked at Florida last season. Also, South Carolina won at Clemson last year. What I do see from last year should worry the Gamecocks though. They went 4-4 at home last season (Each loss was to a ranked team). Looking at that stat...maybe you are a genious.

Haha well, I lost the lottery to get into the lottery, etc. to actually have a seat in the auditorium (it was quite small) but it was nuts on campus all day and I watched the whole thing on TV.

I'm planning on running an article tomorrow regarding the challenge. In my Top-10 games of the week I listed 13 games. I'm planning on choosing only 15, unless you guys want me to run the full slate, but don't count on that until Thursday or Friday as my plate is full during the week.

I understand your reasoning, although I am confused whether you pulled the article or Ben did. I was under the impression that Ben did, but it sounds like you are saying that you did. Either way is fine (such is the case in an Open Source Sports Network), but I'm just trying to figure out the chronology.

I kind of agree with you on the unsubstantiated claims by Ben, I just think having the article up (possibly with an editor's note to explain the events) puts all the comments in better context. Either way, your presence as a Community Leader and the way you sprung into action was well noted and well appreciated by the BR Team, and, I'm sure, the community at large.

Haha. I'm still a Buckeye on Saturday's too. I don't think my father would call me his son if I didn't at least claim them somewhat. I still, to this day, regard OSU vs. Michigan as the biggest rivalry in college football, if not all of sports. I still hate Desmond Howard and Charles Woodson because they wore those stupid colors, and I will forvever bash any Michigan Alum in the NFL regardless of how well they do, i.e. Tom Brady. The only thing I won't put it ahead of is UNC vs. Duke basketball. I saw you liked Will Blythe's book. Amazing read.

Hey David - fyi, I just tried to reply to the comment you left on my article about Kobe and the Bulls. When I did, your comment (which was great btw) got erased. The BR programmers are working as we speak to figure out why it disappeared and how they can get it back.

Too bad about the comment, but as we know exactly how it happened, we should now be able to get rid of the bug once and for all.
