Curt 's Bio

Hey. I'm Curt Hogg, also referred to at my school as Chap Stick Boy, Papaya Pie, Lefty, Mr. Goose, Squirrel Boy, and Mr. Who. I just finished the eighth grade and am going to be a freshman in the upcoming 2009-10 school year.
I won the Iris Luell Memorial Award, which is given out to the top achiever in Language Arts in the grade, at our eighth grade promotion ceremony. I wouldn't want the award in any other subject.
I won $150 in an essay contest in February and received a nice plaque that is on my wall, and took home $45 in an essay contest last year.
I lived in Costa Rica, Ecuador, and Peru for a combined six years and can speak Spanish fairly well. (I also am taking Spanish II next school year).
For my summer plans, I expect to watch lots and lots of baseball, watch my little brother, hang out with firends, check my Facebook page (I'm listed as Curt Hogg-send me a friend request), eat, and do other things typical teens do.
I am a die-hard Brewers fan and hope they can make the Playoffs for back-to-back seasons. I was at the game last season when Ryan Braun hit a walk-off grand salami.
The Packers are my favorite football team and I also love the Jets (no, I don't like them just because Favre went to them. I liked them ever since I was four.).
Staying true to my hometown, my favorite NBA team is the lowly Milwaukee Bucks. I admit it. They suck.
I will watch almost any type of sporting event. Poker is not listed as a sport.
My e-mail address is bdchogg13@yahoo.com. Feel free to e-mail me anything.
Well, that's pretty much it.
Hope you enjoy my articles.

  1. The Yankees have put together an unbelievable streak of magical wins, but is Yankee Stadium and its short right field porch New York’s “magic wand?” Can sitting back and waiting for a solo HR really translate to October success?

    http://bleacherreport.com/articles/234903-yankees-late-inning-home-run-magic-simply-a-bronx-illusion

Thanks in advance! I would love to hear your feedback and comments. Take care.

  2. The new Yankee Stadium had been criticized for its lack of intensity and electricity in the early months of the season, but this weekend’s series against the Red Sox finally make a familiar place seem like HOME.

Thanks in advance, and I would look to hear your opinions and feedback. Take care.

  3. Yankee fans rooting for the Red Sox? Has hell frozen over, or is there a rational thought process at the root of it all. Read why it is ok for you to root for Boston on select occasions without feeling like Benedict Arnold.

Thanks in Advance! I would love to hear your feedback.

  4. There has always been a connection between religion and sports, and Major League Baseball has certainly not been the exception to the rule.

Check out the All-Catholic lineup…the best Catholic names (by position) in MLB history.

    Thanks as always!

  5. A-Rod’s 2009 salary is $33 million. What is the best team (9 hitter lineup with DH, 5 SPs, 1 RP, and a CL) you could create using only his salary as a budget, and no more than 5 players allowed to be making less than $1 million? You would be surprised…

  6. Hey,

I just wrote an article about the Home Run Derby. It's a "minute by minute" recap of the Derby with my "analysis." I was hoping you could take a look at it and voice any opinion on it.

    Thanks.

  7. Hey,

After the great success of my first article about the uniform numbers 1-10, I have come back with the next installment, with the best players to wear the uniform numbers 11-20. I hope you can take a look and even comment on my choices. Thanks in advance!

  8. Hey,

The turmoil surrounding the 1977 Yankees earned them the nickname of “The Bronx Zoo.” The current 2009 Yankees have an interesting blend of leaders and pranksters, so I decided to create a LITERAL “zoo.”

Check out what animal each Yankee would be reincarnated as in a next life.

    http://bleacherreport.com/articles/216046-the-real-bronx-zoo-what-if-the-yankees-were-reincarnated-as-animals

    Thanks everyone!

  10. This is the story of a ball player who beat the odds. Its a true heartwarmer, and I'd love to hear what you think.

  11. Curt, I just looked at your article you posted today, and it made me want to be in Brewtown right now. A very enjoyable read! If you have time, I'd love to hear some feedback on some of my work. Your work has a great style, something im trying to work on. Thanks in advance!

  12. Curt-
I have found over the past month or so that I write best when I allow my heart to lead my head. Please check out my latest, I would be interested in any feedback you may have, or even anyone who would make your team. Thanks

  13. Hey Curt,

Lou Gehrig has somehow been forgotten amongst the game’s immortals, even though he was possibly even more of a reason for the success of Ruth’s 1927 Yankees. Read about the quiet, forgotten leader of “Murderer’s Row,” Henry Lou Gehrig.

    http://bleacherreport.com/articles/167924-lou-gehrig-remembering-the-quiet-forgotten-leader-of-murderers-row?just_published=1

    Thanks in advance!
