Pacquiao Beats Mayweather Regardless of Outcome

Originally from Seattle, but living in the ACC-hoops crazy South, I still root for the M's, Seahawks, Cougs, and Super Sonics (past tense), when not trying to score a ticket to Duke-Carolina, Wake-Maryland, or flying across country for an NCAA tournament. Spent some time in the ring, I have a fondness for the sweet science and a good MMA fight.
My writing influences: Steve Kelly (Seattle Times), Bill Simmons (from my time in Providence, RI), FX Toole, Davis Miller, George Plimpton, George Vecsey, and Peter Bacho.
Likes: the rare supremely gifted athlete that actually plays hard.
Dislikes: the punk athlete.
It’s no secret that Manny Pacquiao has sights beyond the realm of the ring. In the Philippines, he is the biggest thing since Imelda’s famed shoe collection...
Good points. I think he'll be successful in the "right" system in the pros. He's a winner and a freakish athlete and some GM, on some...
Gerald Ball replied…
There is no system that would allow Tebow to succeed. He is subpar as a passer...
Minto is far from a beast... I like Arreola's heart. He's a hard puncher, and you gotta love the blue collar look and all those tats....
Colin Linneweber replied…
I simply couldn't agree more with you on every word you wrote. Thanks for the read!...
Hopkins/Dawson? Good fight, but willit give B-Hop the kind of payday he's searching for?
Nice article, LM. I'm a big Pacquiao fan but I'm reluctant to pick a winner... for now. I penned an article awhile back discussing the difficulties...
Luther Mogley replied…
J, Good read on the "Bad Math". I don't see how people think they can compare...
It was a perfect setup, really. Like a left to the body that drops the gloves for a big right hand, the so-called “tune-up” bouts for Roy Jones Jr...

I have discussed this fight with alot of non-boxing fans which is suprising. I almost have to go back to Sugar Ray and Hagler for the...

I say either Vegas or Los Angeles cause I put a lot of miles on my car driving to vegas like every 3 months to cover...
Good analogies! Enjoyable read.
Nice article. As a fan, I wanted to see him stop after the Glenn Johnson beating. Hall of Fame lock, he's one of the most athletic...
Nick Tylwalk replied…
Thanks J. I, too, wanted him to stop after the Johnson fight, but he hasn't really...
Just look at the pictures three years ago and now, I don't think you gained over 15 lbs of muscle like Manny Pacjuice. you can accuse...

Nice article but could have been better. I think more ignorant guys like James Ranck would...
abcd wakwak replied…
If Mayweather can gain 15 lbs of muscle, why can't Pacquiao?
It didn’t take long for the accusations to fly. Just days after newly minted welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao delivered his biggest victory over the larger Miguel Cotto, the “S” word reared its ugly head...
Hey J Great article my friend. It doesn't matter anymore. Once an athlete develops super-star status, he will be accused of everything from 'roids to having...
