It's kind of a strange list, especially since you talk about popularity (star power) as being one of the criteria -- how do you judge that?...

I am a professional scientist.
I study comets and the planets. I have done work on Jupiter and Saturn. I have a special fondness for the largest moon in the solar system: Ganymede (a moon of Jupiter). To support my work, I have degrees from UC Berkeley, UCLA, and the University of MIchigan. So of course I support those teams! The only conflict I have is when UCLA and UM face each other in the Rose Bowl. Then, all I'll say is that I wear Blue and Gold.
When I was a student at UM, I used to foxhunt with the Battle Creek Hunt (we never caught the fox - that was not the point!). As a result of that I have an interest in equestrian hunting and cross-country events. I have a life-long interest in horse racing. I am priveliged to live near the historic Santa Anita racetrack (where Seabiscuit used to race).
I travel quite a bit for business. I have been lucky enough to go to Wimbledon twice! Saw Pete Sampras the first time, saw both Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic in Centre Court the second time (not against each other). I have also been to Indian Wells, Roger's Cup, Queens Club, and stood outside Roland Garros (grins). I have a life-long interest in tennis. Some of my earliest memories are of Arthur Ashe in the 70s, and John McEnroe facing Borg in the 80s.
I just started self-publishing children's science-learning (and a few other books) at my website: Red Phoenix Books (http://www.redphoenixbooks.com). You can follow me on twitter @redphoenixbooks.
The more people you can upset, the better ;)
Hey Claudia,
How about getting your facts straight before writing a sports blog. Most Popular Bay Area Sports Stars is an embarrassment. Stick to comets and planets.
Otherwise you're out ot your league... so to speak.

Claudia......I also have a similar issue with the bonds family. Number of nights drinking with Bobby , in San Carlos , and supervising a 6 year old barry in after school at the Carlmont YMCA. I would love to collaborate with someone on a story about the eveloution of PEDs in MLB and the current scapegoat ( Barry ). I will be looking for your work on the BR Giants page......Tim Mosher.......P.S. Very sorry that your Dad missed the Giants WS championship miracle of 2010.
With just a couple of days before the 2010 Ford Ironman Championship in Hawaii, I talk with one of the favorites—last year's runner-up, American Chris Lieto:
