Elizabeth's Bio

I am a Davidson Mom. My daughter is a junior at Davidson and is friends with many of the players. Because of this I have become a huge Davidson fan and joined Bleacher report to read (and possibly write) articles about Davidson Basketball. The season Davidson had last year was such an incredible experience for anyone involved with Davidson. The Davidson story is so much bigger than Steph Curry's statistics. I hope to bring a more personal perspective to the comments and writing about Davidson basketball. I went to UVA when it was a huge ACC powerhouse but the team and the students were completely segregated. At Davidson there is a big difference. The players are totally integrated into every aspect of campus life . When they play, they are not playing for their fans. They are playing for their friends. It is a wonderful and unique thing to witness.

  1. well newer article on ESPN is titled, "to go or not to go?" and has no official word...if this was true i feel like it would have been reported on espn or some more reputable sites....im still crossing my fingers. I hope this draftexpress site loses all its credibility

  2. via draftexpress.com

While as many as six potential lottery picks (Willie Warren, Cole Aldrich, Ed Davis, Greg Monroe, Al-Farouq Aminu and possibly Evan Turner) have already declared their intentions to return to college next season, one player who will not is Davidson’s Stephen Curry. Sources close to the situation tell us that Curry will call a press conference shortly to announce he is putting his name in the draft. From what we understand, it’s very likely he keeps it in too. Curry looks like a pretty solid bet to get drafted somewhere in the 8-15 area, with teams like the Knicks, Nets and Suns currently looking to be the most interested amongst that group. Curry very much wants to graduate from Davidson, and this decision wasn’t an easy one as you can probably tell by how long it took, but at the end of the day, the NBA was too enticing an option considering where his draft stock is at at the moment, and how stacked next year’s draft is already shaping up to be.

  3. Didn't see either story so it's okay. Would have scared the crap out of me if I had seen your first post first

  4. Seth Curry to Duke... yuck

  5. Can't decide what I think after reading it. The line "desperately wants to finish school" is obviously comforting. However, the added "Stephen can't make a bad decision here" also irks me a little. I'd say with the info you given me and reading it though it does sound like he'll be back. I hope so.

BTW- there is a group on facebook titled, "Stephen Curry Please Stay" that has 642 members already, including me. I hope your daughter is leading the cause.

  6. Thanks for the tip. I'll go read it now. The quick response had me nervous there was some bad news. I'm glad your daughter is playing undercover cop! Tell her to keep the updates coming.

Upset about the Seth. I wish he would just play with big bro. They could be like Jordan and Pippen. I'll hate it if he goes to Duke. Yuck.

    Thanks again!

  7. Thanks for the support with Mr. Wong. Haha

SO weird you mention SC and next year. I was just arguing it out with a buddy of mine. I think he'll be back and your little news feed definitely makes me feel better about it. I don't think he'd lie about it, then again he probably doesn't know yet and apartment arrangements at Davidson happen pretty early. I hope he's not getting all signed up and then still makes the decision to leave.

Did you hear that Seth is transferring from Liberty??? I hope he is coming to Davidson but the news reports says higher profile conference. I think it'll be ACC maybe? We'll see. It's been a pleasure chattting with you throughout the season. Tough way to end it. I'll be in touch re: SC, Seth, and updates hopefully. Take care.

  8. It's win the conference tournament or go home time for the Cats... hopefully they can find themselves here near the end and ride a wave into the tourney(s).

  9. Meant to message you earlier that I spoke with Brendan, that he was getting the start and Steph wasn't playing. Citadel was 2 point favorites and had it been 3 points, I probably would have bet my house on Davidson covering/winning. WOW am I glad I didn't. What the hell happpened? Everyone (from the box score) looked to be absolutely frigid. Props to Brendan for continuing to put the ball up, giving his best Steph Curry impression, but wow. I would not have guessed this bad of a loss in a million years....

Hopefully Steph plays Saturday and more importantly, hopefully Davidson wins because without a win on Saturday and a choke job in the tournament and we can kiss our tourny hopes goodbye.....

  10. Should be interesting to see if Steph plays....

  11. BC plays to the level of their competition more than any other team I've seen.

    Clemson, who knows?

Davidson will have to shoot well from 3 if they don't have Steph. Good thing fro them they have the shooters to do so. Some inside scoring from Lovedale would help the cause, though. But if they have to play Butler w/o Curry, they'll be in trouble.

  12. Hi Elizabeth

    1) I thought Clemson was done being a schizzo team after beating Duke. Looks like I was wrong.
    2) I live in the Boston area and there's a lot of young, unknown talent on BC. I'm only a little surprised they won. The lack of post scoring continues to be a major weakness for Duke.
    3) It will be very interesting to see how Davidson does w/o Curry. Will their guys pick up the slack?

  13. Bounced back nicely after the Samford debacle. I'll probably be doing a LIVE, in game post during the CofC game, and live chat on my website, detroit4lyfe.com. Hope you can join in and the Cats can pull out another W.

    Bob

  14. I saw. I was there. Sitting right behind his parents. Awesome game, we are really looking good.

  15. Was at the game at GA Southern... pretty redundant to keep posting Southern Conference game results. As I've said before, there is no reason the Cats shouldn't win out the season and win the conference tourny easily. I guess CofC should be the only competitive game. I do like what I'm starting to see out of the big guys Allison and Ben-Eze. Hopefully they keep improving. Archambault is shooting really well lately too. Looking forward the more exciting games and still waiting for Steph to drop 50. He probably would have last night had they not been up 20 the entire game.

    Go Cats.
