Cards announcer Jack Buck made his legendary “Go crazy, folks. Go crazy” call when shortstop Ozzie Smith drills a 1-2 pitch from Dodgers pitcher Tom Niedenfuer over the right-field wall in the ninth inning of the NLCS Game 5, giving the Cardinals a 3-2 victory. Smith, a switch-hitter, had previously batted lefthanded 3,009 times in the major leagues without hitting a home run, making the feat all the more remarkable.
