One pro not mentioned is: Oregon plans for it's defense being on the field a lot by playing two sets of defensive units and having defenders...
Majored in Physical Therapy at SOCE until being drafted to VN. Finished a degree in Sports training specializing in prevention of athletic injuries.
Loves track and field and while an Oregon fan also has connections to OSU. Raised to appreciate excellent teams and athletes from any where in the world. I believe you can put in a losing effort beating a weak opponet and can find nobility in losing to a great opponet. It is the effort put in in practice that wins match's or games.

I always look at the profiles of writers who write negatively about Oregon. They are always from the SEC or So. Cal as you are. I actually think it's great that foriegn writers want to minimize of dismiss Oregon. I know Oregon has Kay Jennings pumping us up constantly maybe it's just women writer write what they wish not what is fact. Too emotional imho.

I wrote this an hour ago and it disapeared. It is not offensive and is to the point. Why did it disapear so I had to rewrite.
As I said. What everbody missed is that Mariota has become comfortable enough with the zone read that he is starting to recognize holes and take them himself. This will give Oregon the third RB we had with Massoli. Teams will have to account for him or pay the price. This makes for a thinner defese and bigger holes for our two RB's to run through.
Last night was the first time he made his running a weapon. I see Oregon's offense getting even better the more dangerous Mariota becomes with his legs.

Why is it Auburn beating Oregon by a last second field goal preceeded by a questionable call equate into a beat down by all SEC fans. Most of whom were sitting at home. It's like even the lowest SEC teams fans think they all went to LSU or Bama. Where was your team during the NC game?
Then Oregon scored more points on LSU than any other SEC team that year with a fumbling [2 x's] freshman future Heisman RB. How did your team do against LSU?

I've mentioned I wrestled Varsity in college. I had a 80% win average. I played football and was also the state champion in the 100 and 220 yard dash [1967 Elmira]. My dad was a successful wrestling coach. He coached four state title teams in Sutherlin in nine years so I grew up around elite athletes and coaches.
One of the things I was taught was quiet confidence and a compliment to your opponent is the way to go. Bleating about a beatdown you're going to give to another elite athlete is usually taken as fear leaking out the sides.
I really enjoy your columns. But. I'd rather let the other person be the loudmouth bully because it makes the win so much more enjoyable. Oregon has a great team this year but so does USC. Let’s play the game and then see if they come up with excuses which we know they will. ….. Just mho.
I was exposed to elite athletes so early I can remember sitting [sat there by my dad] on the rail of the Hayward bleachers and listening to [way before your time] Harry Jerome banter with Jerry Tarr over who could knock a quarter off the hurdle w/o touching the hurdle. And they weren’t using age appropriate language for a six year old. lol
