I think the Hawks will get farther.
I am beyond pissed that the Rangers AND Devils just got eliminated. I now have no team to cheer for and am boycotting watching the rest!!!! :(
Mitch at Cfbplace.com, you were right. Though last night, Mills and the Gaels looked great against Wazzu.
that was a beat down, i don't think st. mary's deserves to go after that,
I think the zags win but don't cover, same as the lst 2 against the gaels. either way the zags are in so not as big a game for them as st. mary's.
Hey Joshua. You asked me how far Butler waill make it in the tourtament this year. I will write an article and tag it to then Butler Page See Ya'
Josh-
How are you?
Here are my thoughts on Gonzaga.
In regards to Austin Daye, we have been talking about his "potential," for entirely too long now.
He's shown flashes, but let's be honest, he's 6'11 with athleticism and skill. He needs to be doing more against WCC competition. I have a feeling he might be one of those Rudy Gay, Thaddeus Young types of athletic marvels that really never puts it together in college, but comes alive in the NBA with a much more open system in place (Of course he has to get there first).
But what about Jeremy Pargo? Forget potential, the guy is a proven commodity, having won WCC player of the year in 2008. But for some reason his scoring and assist numbers are down.
He has been good this year (don't get me wrong), but I'll tell you, I saw him in person against UConn in Dec. of 2007 and he absolutely dominated A.J. Price and made any play he wanted.
For Gonzaga to make a deep run, I think they'll need strong play from their senior point guard. If that happens, and Micah Downs, Matt Bouldin and Stephen Gray hit their shots, this team will be fine.
Finally, if you read me enough, you know that I really question how tough this team is. Because I don't live on the West Coast I don't get to watch every game, but against Memphis they absolutely wilted, and didn't play nearly up to the competition in some WCC games.
Of course, there is a very important caveat: they didn't lose a game in WCC play! That's impressive! I don't care if Patty Mills was hurt or San Diego was down, they showed up 14 times and got 14 wins. They also won at Washington State and beat Tennessee on both a neutral court and a true road game.
The point is this, I said it in the pre-season and I stand by it- Gonzaga has Final Four capabilities. At times they haven't shown it, but at others they have.
But to answer your question, I actually think Pargo needs to step his game up a bit. Like I said, Heytvelt will get his numbers, and the guards will make their 3's.
But if Pargo some how becomes the bully with a mean streak he was last year, this team is really scary. When he plays with confidence, he is so physical and strong he is virtually impossible for the opposition to guard.
Hope this gives a little insight, and good luck come tournament time. If you have any more questions, please feel free to either send me another message, or e-mail me at ATorres00@gmail.com
