Stew's Bio

I am a life-long Boston sports fan – I was raised on Larry Bird and the Boston Celtics. I remember spending many a Saturday afternoon as a little kid, listening to my dad’s Celtics Pride records (yes, records) about the Celtics of the 1960s. I listened to Johnny Most’s call of Havlicek stole the ball so often, I could easily imagine that I was there myself. I attended the final Celtics game in the Boston Garden, a 1995 playoff loss to Shaq and the Orlando Magic, and I was in attendance for every home playoff game in 2002 when the C’s made a run to the Eastern Conference finals behind Antoine Walker, Paul Pierce, and a group of players whose sum was far greater than their individual parts. Then Paul Gaston dismantled the team, and the Celtics fell into irrelevancy until the arrival of KG this past summer. I remember following the Patriots when too many of their games weren't on TV due to local blackouts, and I fell in love with the Red Sox when I went to college in Boston and got to go to games regularly which also coincided with the arrival of Pedro Martinez.

  • Favorite Athletes

Larry Bird, Pedro Martinez, David Ortiz, Jonathan Papelbon, Antoine Walker, Reggie Lewis, Dennis Johnson, Paul Pierce, KG, Al Jefferson, Drew Bledsoe, Andre Tippett, Lawyer Milloy, Ben Coates, Troy Brown, Barry Sanders, Johnny Bench, Carlos Pena, Tim Hardaway, Sherman Douglas, John Bagley, Xavier McDaniel, Leon Powe, Ed Pinckney

  • Favorite Sports Teams

    Celtics, Red Sox, Patriots

  • All Time Sports Moment

David Ortiz's game-winning hit in Game Five of the 2004 ALCS, bringing the series to 3-2. When Ortiz did it for a second straight night, that is when I started to believe it could happen.

  • Most Memorable Game Attended

Every Fenway Park Pedro Martinez start between 1998 and 2002 that I was able to attend (and I did my best to be at as many as possible).

  • Most Unbreakable Sports Record

    Joe Dimaggio's 56-game hit streak.

  3. Stew,

Tony Conligiaro had everything going for him. The (suburb of) Boston native got to play for his team, and he was a hell of a hitter. Unfortunately, all good things must come to and end, and this case was no exception. I would love to hear what you think.
