About

An aspiring sports writer, music journalist and news reporter (not necessarily in that order) currently living in London, England.

I've been a Manchester United fan for as long as I can remember but fell in love with the game itself in my early teens. I'm something of a football geek, interested in obscurities, histories, tactics and the self-indulgent pseudo-philosophy that spews forth in the sport's more ludicrously cerebral (read: pretentious) moments.

You can find my work at Some Goals Are Bigger Than Others, the alternative Manchester football site I co-own with City fanatic Daniel Morehead: www.somegoals.wordpress.com

what do you think greg.............................i must say that the current squad is well balanced and just needs some realignment.
1.1-442 should be left for the smaller games at OT,todays games embraces 1-4231[and its amazing spectrum of varaitions]
2.todays games is for athletes with pace and power

    in light of this.

    out;berbatov,owen,park,kuzack
    loan out;premier league;fryers,w.keane,m.keane,r.tunnicliffe,bebe
    loan out ;europe;fabio,anderson

in light of this and with giggs, scholes and in my opinion vidic(how many 30yr olds who rupture cruciate ligaments come back to be the same player[its a pity] do we know, lets hope he is an exception),fletcher, anderson should be well assessed from the moment the season is over whether we win the league or not.

the team needs the following to come in right now and make us a threat at home and able to deal with th eunpredictable terrain of europe.
    1.LB(only choice...Christian FUCHS,Schalke,26Austrian)........10m pounds
    2.CB(choices...Mehdi BENATIA,Udinese,25Morrocco/Neven SUBOTIC,Dortmund,23Serbia/Matija NASTASIC,Fiorentina,19Serbia).......20million pounds
    3.CDM(choices....Javi MARTINEZ,Bilbao,23Spain/Javi GARCIA,Benfica,24Spain???).......30million pounds
    4.CAM(choices....Shinji KAGAWA,Dortmund,23Japan/Eden HAZARD,Lilie,23Belgium/Nicolas GAITAN,Benfica,23Argentina).......30million pounds
    5.STR(choices....Jan Klaus Hunterlar,Schalke,28Holland/Leandro DAMIAO,Santos,23Brazil).........20 million pounds

in the current frame of things a 100million pound war chest is needed,of course we dont have to spend it alll, some players could come cheaper and still be as good....eg FUCHS,NASTASICorBENATIA,GARCIA,KAGAWAandHUNTERLAAR could come for as low as 70m while if we do have the cash and depends on who leaves or what SAF and his team believe FUCHS/SUBOTIC/MARTINEZ/HAZARD/HUNERLAAR would b a bit more expensive but we should go out there and make a statement of intent.

    What do yous think?

Goal Line Technology…………………so we will know if a ball really crosses the line (just like in sprints) or not or Hawkeye in Football………where each coach can challenge 3 decisions per game that the officials make (just like in tennis).

In my opinion, unbelievable decisions ruin football, more than goal line issues.

Goal line issues are covered in the questionable decision issue above.

My submission, give each coaches the capacity to challenge any 3 decisions of his choice and at anytime….. Hawkeye in Football………where each coach can challenge 3 decisions per game that the officials make (just like in tennis).

    What will this do?

Any decision that a coach decides not to challenge when he still has his challenges, it will be taken that he is okay with the call and so the referee cannot be questioned
It will bring some credibility into the game, as 1 man or 3 men (or 5 men if you look at European nights) can determine games that balance on knife edges where winning/loosing can decide millions of dollars.
Let the officials know that their performance ha snow to be of the highest standards

    whatzp.
just finished the game and while i join millions of manchester united fans disappoited that we didnt win.
2 things leave a smirk on my face.

1.the team was awesome while on top of the game and berbatov was at his mercurial best(for me he starts alongside rooney against newcastle on saturday with nani and ashley flanking them infront of fletcher and carrick(didnt SAF say he gets beter around this time of the season),and fabio was great as well.

2.the lack of a boss/beast/bull dozer in the midfield of the park was glaring again, this will surely push SAFz hand into the murky waters of the winter market, sorry we cannot wait till the clear waters of the summer market we ned to get that enforcer now.

deep lying playmakesr like carrick(pirlo) need a gattusso playing next2 them
all action central midfielders like fletcher need either a creative midfielder infront of them or a beast of a defensive midfielder playing behind them.

in the winter priority should be to sign martinez and montolivo and also sign a contract to get cavani in the summer.
