Mike's Bio

Born in Toronto, I never had a chance at being anything other than a Leafs fan. I grew up in the time of Gilmour, Clark, and Potvin. The first hockey game I ever went to was Game 7 of the second round Sharks/Leafs series in 1994, and still vividly remember all the "Squish the Fish!" signs handed out at the Gardens. I've seen the highs and lows- I was in the stands in one of Toronto's many playoff victories over the Senators, but I've also watched Martin Gelinas end the Leafs last great shot at the Cup in 2002. I now live and go to school in Victoria, BC, and try to remain in relative sanity among all the crazy Canucks fans (they're like Habs fans, minus the French and 24 Cups; trust me).

Mike Writes About

The Short List What Mike thinks about sport's most pressing questions

  • Favorite Athletes

LEAFS: Hagman, Grabovski, Schenn, Toskala; NON-LEAFS: Ovechkin, Iginla, Lucic.

  • Favorite Sports Teams

    #1-29: Leafs; #T-30: Flames, Sabres.

  • All Time Sports Moment

When you're a Leafs fan born after 1967, there aren't many; I'd say the 2002 playoff run, because it was the last big one and the one I remember the best.

  • Most Memorable Game Attended

2002, Game 7 vs. Ottawa; Leafs won 3-0, an unbelievable game, and the ACC was electric!

  • Most Unbreakable Sports Record

    No idea.

  • Gretzky or Orr?

    Gretzky is the man.
