Sorry, Sean, but I have to disagree with you. I think the Rockets ARE a playoff team even without McHale. He's a mediocre coach and therefore doesn't have much impact on the team (i.e. Gregg Popavich, Phil Jackson, etc.). James Harden's and Omer Asik's additions is what has turned this team into a contender—not McHale. His handling of Lin is suspect, as is his overall lack of consistency in the rotation. With the playoffs looming, he needs to sort these things out.
You're right--it was a totally turn-back-the-clock quarter. But without Harden, no one is surprised. So my article tomorrow is going to be about something else.
