SAVITA HIREMATH is a Bangalore-based a journalist since 1995. She has earlier worked with Deccan Herald, The Times of India, and The New Indian Express, and headed a journalism institute for a year. She has authored "The Positive Story" on insurance for HIV-positive people in 2008. When the October 2009 floods devastated North Karnataka (southern India), she toured two districts and wrote a series of articles exposing corruption and bureaucratic apathy. Her report on the exclusion of Dalits (untouchables) in the flood relief efforts was well received by both print and television media. She consults several NGOs and a human rights group to research and document socio-political issues.

She loves to write on women's issues, HIV/AIDS, caste and religion, rural poverty, environmental issues, and tennis. She blogs at www.savitahiremath.com.

    Appreciate the 'like' for the Nadal slideshow. It was a fun write. Very impressed with your Reverberations blog and work. It looks like you have so many issues you are writing and representing; it must keep you so busy. All of it is excellent quality, and it's easy to see why you are a true journalist/writer. Your writing is second to none here on B/R, and I admire the quality you bring with your words and ideas.
