I like the fact division winners get the home playoff game. Let me make a case using the Steelers, they had their chance to win the division and were swept by Baltimore, they were a 12 win team it shouldn't matter where they play a 8 win team and let's say the rules were changed as you propose, The Steelers could have decided to rest more players in week 16, 17 knowing they get the home game in the Wild Card round, It devalues the Bye week some in certain circumstances, the difference of winning the division and getting the bye plus a home game is such a massive advantage over road wild card round it makes key divisional matchups immensely importantly.
