All Time Sports Moment

Game 7 of the 2003 ALCS - Boston Red Sox vs. New York Yankees - Roger Clemens walked off the mound to a standing ovation out of respect for the pitcher who had pitched a wonderfully dominant career but lacked any effectiveness in the pivitol game. Still, the Yankees persevered. Manager Grady Little decided that sticking with his ace, Pedro Martinez was a better choice than shifting the game to Boston's bullpen. It proved to be the wrong decision. The Yankees tied the game before Pedro was pulled from the game and on the first pitch of the bottom of the 11th inning, Aaron "bleeping" Boone broke the hearts of Red Sox fans everywhere. "Stick another dagger in the heart of Red Sox fans..." said Red Sox announcer, Joe Castiglione as the Yankees filed off the field to celebrate another American League Pennant.

Most Memorable Game Attended

July 1, 2004 - Boston Red Sox vs. New York Yankees - Ace, Pedro Martinez squared off against recent call-up, Brad Halsey. The kid did just fine, in one of the most memorable regular season games in Yankee history. A superbly unnoticed play in the game was a bases loaded, grounder down the thrid base line. Being that it was late in the game, Torre called for the infield to come in. Alex Rodriguez made a diving stab at the bag, touched third, and threw home to Jorge Posada to nail the runner. Posada threw back to A-Rod who tagged the runner that was previously on second base. Thinking he turned a triple play, A-Rod held up the ball and put up three fingers. It turned that he did not, but still one heck of a play. And if it wasn't for Derek Jeter, it probably would have been the play of the game. A shallow pop-up behind the bag at third, too sharp of an angle for Alex to make the play, Jeter came out of no where, full speed, caught the ball just inside fair territory and dove into the stands without slowing down. Jeter emerged from the seats, bruised and bloody, but with the ball in his glove, adding to the list of countless career highlights. I was sitting just two rows behind Jeter's crash landing and it was the greatest game I have ever witnessed. Boston would go ahead in extras but in the bottom of the 13th, John Flaherty dunked a deep fly ball over the head of the extremely shallow Manny Ramirez in left field.

Most Unbreakable Sports Record

Wayne Gretzky's 92 goals is extremely impressive. He was simply the greatest. It is partially that he put it so out of reach and partially that the game has changed. This new era of hockey will never yield such large numbers, no matter who the superstar may be.
