Having grown up playing football in New Orleans, there was no question as to where I would go to college. Despite having a couple of scholarship offers to play baseball at small schools up north, and not having the intention of playing football in college, I wanted to go to LSU. While I was in high school I traveled to Baton Rouge to see a LSU football game and I was hooked on the crazy level of excitement that surrounded every aspect of the game. The culture at this Institution was intoxicating, no pun intended, and yes, we did have the best times of our lives in school there but what impressed me the most about the people of southern Louisiana is how they seem to live life to its fullest despite their ranking in the social strata. I no longer call Baton Rouge my home but I will always remember my Saturday evenings in Death Valley and feeling goose bumps from the electricity in the air as the Tigers dominated the field.
