John Hickey is a longtime West Coast-based sports writer who covered the Oakland A’s for two decades with The (Hayward) Daily Review and then the Oakland Tribune before heading north and covering the Seattle Mariners starting in 2000 for the Seattle Post-Intelligencer before moving on to AOL Fanhouse to cover baseball, the Seattle Seahawks and the NFC West. He is a longtime correspondent for the Tokyo Chunichi Press who is looking forward to Bleacher Reporting a la NFL.

A product of the University of California, Hickey is a fan of rock and jazz music, traveling, reading and cooking. He proved in high school that he’s no athlete, but he does like to ski.
