A Letter to MWC Commish Craig Thompson from a Boise State Fan
11/14/2009
Born and raised in Boise, Idaho, I am a die hard Boise State fan and current student
Nothing will ever replace the memories I have of sitting in our small garage-turned-family room watching whatever sport was in season. Learning about protecting the blind-side (Steve Young is blind in one eye?!?), and checking the runner, Pat Summerall and Jon Miller were my teachers, and I, their best student.
With nothing professional in the Boise area, and my dad holding season tickets to what was then Cougar Stadium in Provo, we would make the 6 hour drive on select Saturdays in the Fall to see what LaVell Edwards had going for him that week.
Being a bit of a contrarian and naturally wanting to find my own place in life, I gravitated to the blue turf and the winning attitude at Boise State. It has turned out to be a wise move as we have since become the winningest program of the century.
My main interest is in college football, but will not limit myself to the confines of a league that has no playoff system.

I am surprised by the number of people who actually want to reserve the right to bad-mouth their teams! I offer constructive criticism, of course, but one in particular wants to be able to say, "they suck," if they do.
I don't get it. Will YOU take the pledge?

Tucker,
Thank you, sir. Same to you. That wasn't how I expected the game to go, but I couldn't have asked for a better game either. Both sides impressed (as we predicted) and both sides showed great sportsmanship and respect for either side. I'd love to see another game scheduled between the two in the near future. What a freakin' incredible matchup! Y'alls' future squad is simply terrifying.

I just wrapped up my first semester at the University of Texas at Arlington and am taking the basic freshman courses but my major is declared Journalism right now. It could change but not too much as I'd like to stay in the Communication district. Congratulations on the kids, I'm sure they'll both grow up to be terrific Bronco fans. I need to get to makin' more TCU fans, we can't even fill our stadium without inviting Texas Tech.

Indeed. Intimidation has helped me put off writing any articles. Plus, most of what I'd say has already been written by someone else. I'll get around to it eventually. Right now I just roam around MWC articles and leave comments. Since Tuesday is the last game of the season I may write something after that, but yeah, we'll see. - What year are you at BSU?
I saw on your profile you put the Pac 10 over all the other BCS conferences. Bravo. I'm a bit of an Oregon Duck fan myself, don't worry though, I'm not sour over the loss to y'all earlier in the year, we barely scraped back into the picture late in the game but were owned for most of the game.

Yeah, for sure, I will be checking up on the Broncos.
With some luck, I might be able to play there in a few years!

thanks tucker.
i worry about LSU's defense although they are ok vs the run so maybe they'll beat tech.
i gotta tell ya, the boise-ou fiesta bowl is still one of the better games in recent memory. my wife and i were in the fla keys celebrating our anniversary. it was a long day that day so the wife went to bed early. i watched the game from the living room of our condo and i was going crazy. i stayed up for hours after to watch all the post game stuff still high from the great game.
when we woke up the next morning i vividly recalled the game over breakfast to my wife who (even as not much of a football fan) regretted she missed it.

DeleteA dedication to a great player who never got to finish his career. If you could stop by it would be greatly appreciated.
