Danielle's Bio

I love hockey, especially the Sharks. That's the team I grew up with, although I will admit that I do have a picture of myself in a Mighty Ducks sweatshirt. I was young and naive! I have a picture of me at around three years old with SJ Sharkie biting my head at a game, probably one of my finest moments.

As of right now, I'm planning on becoming a hockey writer or a hockey broadcaster. If that doesn't pan out, I could possibly work in the front office for a hockey team. I haven't really decided, it's one of the joys of being relatively young.

I've got this great gift of knowing more about hockey than I do about stuff I need to know for school. I've even had an old teacher of mine tell me to become a hockey analyst. My current journalism teacher says I'm obsessed with hockey...but I like to think of it as dedication.

I am the San Jose Sharks Community Leader, so if you have any questions or comments, feel free to just leave a note on my bulletin board and I'll contact you as soon as I can!

I'm also a Sharks writer for HockeyBuzz with Ryan Garner and Mark Freitas. I can be heard on Sharksbuzz, streamed live through www.hockeybuzz.com in Ryan Garner's blog, after every Sharks game.

I can be contacted at daniellemarchell@yahoo.com

  1. Hey Danielle,

I'm all the way up in Toronto, but are there any rumblings yet as to possible names for the incoming coach? I'm just curious.

    Thanks!!
    Sheldon

  2. I feel the same way about the discussion--this helps sort things out. I have thought about the Carle, too, but I'm also not sure I wanna give up on him yet. Not an easy decision...

  3. If he had mono, that definitely needs to be taken into consideration, although it still burns me he jumped over that goal in game one. I want to point out that to be consistent, Ehrhoff was playing hurt in the post-season.
Part of the reason I said to let Marleau go isn't that he's not good, but that he is the face of a failed franchise. And certainly not all leaders have to be vocal--that's just what WE need, but you are right we could get that through adding another JR or two.
However, I fully disagree with you on one thing: salary does matter. Letting Ehrhoff go won't free up space to get anyone better, while trading Marleau gets us an impact player, preferably on the blue line. We have lots of forwards. It's not personal, it's strategic.

I await your well-targeted counterpoint...maybe someone from Doug Wilson's staff is reading this!

  4. No doubt Patty was and is much better than Ehrhoff, but if you're our second highest paid player and our captain, you gotta be better than -26 with 56 points in 97 games. If you're our lowest paid defenseman and you play like it, well...

  5. oh btw, i posted an article about it but incase u didnt see Michalek is doing ok.

  6. CAPTAIN MATERIAL?! I think you and a few others are being unrealistically hard on the guy, but c'mon. No way he is captain material unless he is on a minor league team! Not even alternate captain!

  7. i had written "ding dong sharks are dead" like right after the game...i think the joy of the Stars moving on got to me.

  8. Ken said this on my profile: "I'm going to assume Danielle is still pretty ticked at me...will you tell her I'm sorry again? That was really a-hole of me. I am still pretty ashamed of that behavior..."
Maybe he got a little caught up, but that's why since you're on my team I dropped the gloves! If you're satisfied with him paying the price, I think he'd like to know...or maybe of you're not.

  9. Yeah, I thought maybe I was being testy 'cause I was mad. And by the way, I gave Ken crap about the "ding-dong" comment on your board, and he admitted it was a bit out of line. I just noticed he says he deleted it--how does one do that?

  10. Hey Danielle, this Ken guy is a jerk..lol

Anyways, round two is over, and here is how I have the predictions scored:

    Me--18 Pts
    Bryan--11
    You--14

Thayne sent me his picks, but he didn't write them up, so I think that kind of eliminated him from the pool, just to be fair.

Anyways, round 3 starts Thursday so we have a few days to make picks. Good luck, sorry about the Sharks

  11. Sorry to see you lost last night!

  12. I deleted that one comment of mine since it was kinda jerkish of me. Didn't mean to be rude or insensative. Nabokov made some sick saves...im still in awe of a couple of them. The Sharks deserve alot of credit for how well they played tonight. They may have dropped the first two games but tonight was one of the best games i have ever seen.

  13. No. I'm not, because he is 24. We need more veterans back there, but overall he played a good game. Actually, I was happy with the job all of our defensemen did tonight, but no one except maybe Murray had a good playoffs overall.

  14. who do i email at hockeybuzz? cuz no one will cover the Ducks better than me.

  15. oh btw, We both know your jealous of my mad writing skills. You should totally become a fan of me, so that i might turn you to the Ducks again, since it appears as an innocent child you had better hockey taste than you do now.

    Go Stars!
    Go Ducks!
