Tim's Bio

I'm studying journalism at Marquette University in Milwaukee, WI. Looking forward to the college basketball season just to see our Golden Eagles beat the Wisconsin Badgers in the Bradley Center this year. Sorry, Madison.

That's not me in my profile picture. It's Robin Yount, the greatest Milwaukee Brewer in the history of the franchise. Ryan Braun's coming for him, though.

People ask me what I thought about the Brett Favre trade. I'm just happy he doesn't play for the Vikings.

Aaron Rodgers will be the best quarterback in the NFC North this year. It's kinda like saying Ohio State will be the best football team in the Big 10 this year. They win by default. Tavaris Jackson? Kyle Orton? Jon Kitna? Northwestern?

I live in Wisconsin. My girlfriend lives in Phoenix and goes to school in Seattle. We met in Paris. It's a long story.

I wish Marquette was playing Indiana this year. Just to show Tom Crean he made the wrong short-term decision.

I firmly believe that Sterling Sharpe could've gone down as one of the top five all-time great wide receivers in NFL history if he hadn't gotten injured and spent four or five more years with Brett Favre chucking the ball for him. Easily.

JJ Hardy is probably my favorite baseball player. It's not about his glove or his bat. It's all in the eyes. I say that in the straightest way possible.

I ran a mile in less than five minutes once. Then I realized that world class marathoners run that time in 26 miles in a row.

The Milwaukee Bucks really let me down after 2001. I'll forgive them when they make the Conference Finals again.

Bret Bielema needs to lose his Iowa Hawkeye tattoo. It'd probably be messy to get a Badger W done over it.

Joe Paterno and Bobby Bowden should try to retire tied for the lead in division 1-A head coaching victories.

The Green Bay Packers have a better history than your football team.

  1. I just ranked the Top 10 CFB teams in the country as of this Saturday.

    http://bleacherreport.com/articles/52774-top-ten-teams-after-the-first-saturday-of-college-football

    Hope you like it!,

    Ben

  2. Actually, Bush kind of stood me up. I almost cried. (just kidding on the crying part) I've gotta get Bush out of my profile.

  3. Let me introduce myself: I am the Packers Community Leader on the site. I am responsible for editing articles for grammar and spelling, but rarely style (spacing, paragraph breaks, that kind of thing) and never content (excepting vulgarity, of course). But more importantly, I am here to be a resource to make it easier for you to keep up the great work, so please contact me for anything you need!

And I love the pic of Yount--I patterned my play at SS after his before I became too slow for the position. One of the best ever!

  4. Actually I don't feel conflicted. I was a late to the party Marquette fan, marveling at their run to the Final Four and becoming a fan after Dwyane Wade. But Wade's departure conencided closely to my time beginning at 'Cuse so not really. When the Golden Eagles play I cheer for them unless they play the Badgers or 'Cuse. In fact, I was at a Marquette 'Cuse game last winter at the Bradley Center sporting my orange right next to the student section...We won by 10+ as I recall

  5. 10:30 is provisional time.

  6. Hey, I dropped 20 seconds of off my two-mile time yesterday. 11:06...

If I can drop it down to 10:30 I will probably make state...that should be fun. I'll be working hard.

  7. Hello Tim, I've just understood that it was you who corrected my article ! thank you for that !
By "French student" you mean that you study french, right ? In case, I'm here if you need some help !

Thank you again, take care !
    Clément.

  8. Thanks very much for the edits, Tim. They made the article flow better and I appreciate it!

  9. I had to sit around for four hours before the two-mile started. (Some kid didn't show up for his leg of the 4x800, so I filled in for him, though.)

I was so bored I started warming up like an hour before my race. When the race finally came along, there was only one other kid from another school, and a teammate, and me.

Our school has a huge team, just nobody to run the 2 mile.

  10. Thanks, Tim. Like my coach said, it's an early April JV meet. Who really cares? I was just trying to get a feel for the pace and competition. (There were only three runners in this race, though. Kinda weird...)

  11. Well, I finished my two-mile run today. It wasn't pretty.

11:26 was my final time. Ouch. You would have been rested and ready for another heat by the time I crossed the finish line. Good work!

  12. Thanks for the edit... I barely finished writing it before you came along and fixed my mistakes. I appreciate it Tim. And, yes, it is really sad that this can still happen.

  13. My goal for next season is somewhere around 17:30 to 17:45. I plan to put in around 300 summer miles to get me a big boost.

  14. Hey Tim,

we weren't talking about the Northwest division, just the "Pacific Northwest." You see, the Portland Trailblazers and Seattle Supersonics are intrinsically linked, not just due to proximity but also because they received the #1 and #2 picks in the draft last year. Both are young, up and coming teams with young, up and coming general managers with legitimate franchise talent that each team will build around for the next decade.

So yeah, the Jazz are great, but it we were just playing with the rainy pacific northwest in particular.

  15. I'm sorry, ESPN didn't have that story under Vargas' page. That's my bad. Thanks for the catch.

As for the running times, I haven't yet run a one or two mile this season. I run the two on Monday, though. I'll be sure to give you my times.

As to cross country, my best time for the 5K last year was 18:20. Not very good at all, but it got me on the varsity team and to the state meet.

Do/did you run track or cross-country?
