Questionable Fourth-Quarter Coaching Costs Steelers Another Loss
09/27/2009
My support for the Pittsburgh Steelers goes back to before they won their first Super Bowl, which tells you that I’m older than a lot of Bleacher Report readers and writers. I have been a participant of varied sports for most of my life, and now have the chronic knee and back injuries to prove it! As a participant I have particularly enjoyed skiing, football, touch football and basketball. Currently I am active in Taekwondo and I hope to test for my 2nd Dan Black Belt soon.
Despite living in hockey-mad Canada, as a fan my first love is the NFL in general and the Steelers in particular. I am a strong supporter of Ottawa’s Senators, and maintain faith that they will not only return to the playoffs in 2009-2010, but will be a team to be reckoned with. I have faced the reality of having my teams leave town (Montreal’s Expos) or folding (Ottawa’s CFL team, twice!)
I am a strong believer in team chemistry and in teams having a coherent, identifiable team philosophy. I believe in building through the draft rather than trades, in allowing younger players to develop slowly, and in factoring in an athlete’s character along with his physical skills. I dislike showboating, boastful athletes, and believe that when you score a goal or a touchdown you should act like you’ve done it before. Rehearsed celebrations are a pet peeve of mine.
I believe that being a fan of a team does not require blind support for all their decisions: it does not preclude you from being critical when you think they have made a move in the wrong direction.
I am a strong believer in education. I have spent enough time in school to obtain two undergraduate degrees as well as Masters degrees in both Criminology and Educational Counselling. I am employed as a teacher and as a consultant in the areas of Reality Therapy, Lead Management and Choice Theory.
I wouldn't read anything into the fact that the team has been talking to free agent QBs. They always carry 3 QBs, and with Batch out...

No more what if's and could have been's for this team. I saw a quote from SI that I completely agree with:
"It's not fair what has happened to Seattle for a second consecutive year, but the truth is, nobody really cares when injuries determine the fate of a team's season. The clubs that get wiped out and lose because of it are just seen as losers. Period. There's no asterisk applied to your record to denote a plague of injuries. Sorry, Seahawks. But that's reality."
It's completely true, sure, I know that it wasn't just a coincidence we fell out of our playoff run when the massive amounts of injuries occur, but you still have to play football.

If there is one wish I could have that did not involve ridiculous things like infinite money, at the top of my list it would be a Seahawks-Steelers re-match in the Superbowl.
That would be something, a rematch of the most controversial Superbowl in history.
We both gotta get by the Bengals/Niners though, I think the Seahawks showed they are a playoff team with Hasselbeck at the helm, even with seven starters out, we absolutely steamrolled JVille, our passing game looks unstoppable, just too many weapons.
Our defense seems to play perfectly when he is at QB to, two shutouts in his two games, hopefully it becomes a trend.

Wait what was that about Housh? All I see is a top 7 WR, whoops?
Didn't your Steelers lose to the Bengal's?
And your "Curse of the Terrible Towel" is stuck in purgatory for now...

Your logic would make sense and I would almost sadly agree but we had injury problems like this last year.
He just has not done much yet, I think once Hasselbeck and him have some time to gel (if ever) he will cruise
I say 80 catches, 1,000 yards, 8-10 TD's
Hey, despite the past, you guys are in the same position we are, 1-2.
For the Hawks, if we can get back Jones, Hasselbeck, and Tatupu for the Colts, we can still contend for the long haul
For the Steelers, you guys just have to run the ball better, Mendenhall is looking mediocre, I wanted him, but ala Reggie Bush/Mario Williams to a lesser degree Lawrence Jackson is tearing it up
That revision is coming by the way, about three weeks till it's due
