About

Alright, time for Bleacher Report Bio 3.0.

My name, as you've gathered by this point, is Dean Holden. I have been a Featured Columnist for the Detroit Lions since June of 2009 (when Bleacher Report started the Featured Columnist program). I graduated from Middle Tennessee State University with a Bachelor's Degree in journalism in 2009, and from Michigan State University with a Master's in Digital Rhetoric and Professional Writing in 2013.

In my time as a sportswriter, I have had articles featured or linked on CBSSports.com, FoxSports.com, SI.com (Sports Illustrated), and MLive.com, and have been a radio guest on The Knee Jerks (thekneejerks.com) and 1430 ESPN Radio in Fresno, CA. In those experiences, I have discovered I have a simply awful radio voice.

I've been a Lions, Tigers, Red Wings and Pistons fan my entire life, and I will continue to pull for my Lions, especially now that they're getting things turned around. The 2011 season is the most fun I've ever had watching football. Not only did the Lions finally get back to the NFL playoffs, but I decided to give up paying any attention to the jumbled and corrupt college game. I'm much better for it.

And hey! Ever wondered what your faithful Detroit Lions Featured Columnist does when he's not writing/watching Lions?

No?

Oh. Uh... awkward. I was expecting more enthusiasm.

Can you produce 1 article per day please? I don't get enough of my Lions fix and you are the best Lions writer around.

    1) do we have a compensatory pick for some reason this year or am I right in thinking that we will NOT have a 4th or 5th round pick? 2) I'm hoping to trade back in the first round for chance warmack and to receive an extra pick. When will your Mock drafts get under way?

OK. It surprises me to see Avril on 9.5 sacks. He's really underperformed for me.

Who do you foresee leaving in the FA? How do we fix the linebacker situation?

Dean, if I recall correctly at the beginning of the season you said that if Stafford throws for 5000 yards again that the Lions will regress. Good call, he's on the verge of another 5000 yard season and the Lions are out of contention...

Hey Dean, how are you? I have a suggestion piece for you: Since the Lions are out of the playoff race, can you do a humorous piece, because we sure need one! I really enjoyed your how to watch a superbowl as a lions fan (http://bleacherreport.com/articles/338841-how-to-watch-super-bowl-xliv-according-to-detroit-lions-fans) and I was hoping that you could do one for the playoffs this year... I guess this is what it has come to, I'm requesting joke articles about the playoffs :(

The game is in Chicago, and we're facing a special teams demon in Devin Hester... can we win?

Be real with me, Dean... Are the Lions going to miss the playoffs this year?

Dean. Keep doing what you're doing. I more or less rely on your #lions articles for what really happened in the game. (With just 1 NFL season under my belt, I still cant really tell whats going on no matter how much Madden I play!)
