    P.S. In terms of getting on the main football/soccer page, is that an editor's decision or the sports editor themselves? I know that I had my article up about an hour before other similar articles that have been on the main football page so I am wondering who decides that.

    Jonathan, to "spell" someone means to give them a breather, some time off. A player who starts occasionally is often said to "spell so and so". Not to be a jerk but it's a fairly common expression. Hope that helps. Thanks for the edits by the way.
