About Sean »

So, who is this guy? I’m born 1975 in Northern California (Sactown!) and know copious amounts of useless information about baseball, football and basketball. Chose to latch onto the A’s, Raiders and Kings while managing to keep an eye on the other side of the Bay so that I could talk trash about my friends’ beloved 49ers and Giants. I've admittedly lost interest in the A's post-Bash Brothers (and apparently steroid coctails) and now follow a friend on the Cubs. I bleed silver and black (more like hemraging this year) and despite growing up with World B Free and Bernard King on the Warriors adopted the Kings when they moved into my neighborhood.

I was a four-year starter at a Division 3 school in Iowa, three years as a free safety and my final year as a QB. Following graduation I played professionally for two seasons in Sweden before reaching the end... or so I thought. In 2006 I started a two-year comeback with the goal of heading to Japan for the 3rd World Cup of American Football in July 2007, where I suited up in the Blue and Gold as a QB for Sweden.

Who am I now? Well, I’m a capital planner for one of the 20 largest banks in Europe. I live and breathe in Stockholm, Sweden these days, which has only lit the fire under my passion. My connection to US sports lives on these days thanks to ESPN insider, Dime Magazine, NASN (North American Sports Network) and the world’s greatest invention… the Slingbox. If you’ve never heard of it, stick it into google and you’ll realize that I have my own TiVo… in Georgia (thanks Dad).

Big 3 Sports

The Shortlist »

  • Favorite Athletes

Current: Derrek Lee, LeBron James, Brett Favre, Shaquille O´Neal, Steve Nash Past heroes (in order of appearance on my life radar): Kenny King, Lester Hayes, Rod Martin, Pete Rose, Bernard King, World B Free, Marcus Allen, Patrick Ewing (Georgetown version), Herschel Walker (UofGA version), Reggie Theus, Michael Jordan, Bo Jackson, Mark McGwire, Barry Sanders (had the good fortune of meeting him through a friend...if only every athlete was this type of person, Every Sacramento King from 2000-2002

  • Favorite Sports Teams

Oakland Raiders, Sacramento Kings, Chicago Cubs (since D.Lee's arrival), Golden State Warriors (pre-Sacramento Kings era), Oakland A's (this flame died out in the late 90s), Colorado Buffalos (Kordell Stewart era), Florida Marlins (D.Lee era)

  • All Time Sports Moment

Tie: Marcus Allen´s great Super Bowl run against the Redskins, Bo Jackson every time he touched the football, Michael Jordan vs Boston Celtics (63 dogs!), MJ's sick game vs Utah, MJ's jumper against the Cavs, LeBron's 4th quarter against the Pistons and (sadly) McGwire's 62nd.

  • Most Memorable Game Attended

Roger Clemens first retirement during the World Series against the Marlins. Of course, this is quickly losing its luster.

  • Most Unbreakable Sports Record

511 wins... never, never ever. All yours Cy.

  • Ruth or Mays?

The Babe was on his own level... the most dominant hitter ever, who could have been a 3-400-game winner as a pitcher. Mays had Mantle and others in his era that were at least comparable.

  • Unitas or Montana?

Joe. Grew up in Northern California a Raider fan, but I loved Joe.

  • Pele or Maradona?

Soccer... did somebody say soccer? I guess living in Europe I have no choice, but I don't have to like it. I will have to admit that the video I´ve seen of Maradona´s 3/4 field run, spin-move goal in whatever World Cup that was outdoes the bicycle kick though.

  • Pac 10, Big 12, Big 10, SEC, ACC, or Big East?

Pac 10, but I believe the SEC is on its own level in football... the Big 10 couldn´t be more overrated.
